my story

Hello! I'm Ann, an artist from St. Paul, Minnesota, with an passionate interest in fashion and photography.  I started this blog to document my personal style and make pictures with a strong sense of place. Before art school, I studied commercial photography and I'm enjoying combining locations with my style.

I started my blog after an personally intense period in my life. Both of my parents were facing declining health and my life was revolving around their care. I had so little time for myself and found I was wearing way to many pairs of black stretch pants. This is not how I wanted to be, so here I am in all my glory! I am a 51 year old gal enjoying life and sharing my styling with you.

I think my style is artistic yet classic. I enjoy pattern mixing and have an entry closet jammed with coats, my favorite item of clothing. I'm wearing clothing mainly purchased at department stores during the last 25 years. If it's been in my closet this long is it vintage?...... I'm selling items at my local consignment shop so I'm picking up some new pieces there also. Currently my blog runs the full spectrum of my interest in designer labels to thrifted pieces. I adore detail and craftsmanship in well made clothes. I think personal style isn't so much about purchasing power but creatively configuring items and color.

  1. I just found your blog and I find it refreshing to read about a style blogger who is not still in her 20's (though I enjoy quite a few of those blogs as well). You are also based in MN which, much to my dismay ( transplanted East Coaster), is where I live as well. I look forward to continuing to follow your journey.

  7. Glad I found your blog! Wonderful photography and design. But what really drew me was your location (yes! you understand cold although I laughed when you admitted outfit wasn't warm enough and you had to jump in and out of the car!), your size (although to me 5' 5' would be tall, at least your size sort of relates to me) and your age (no teeny bopper trendy stuff, just artistry and elegance!!!) Looking forward to future blogs!

  10. ANN! Hi there, I am here via our mutual blog pal, Rene over at Simple Sequins! I am a resident of North East Minneapolis, and when I saw that you are here in The Twin Cities, I had to jump on the chance to come see you. You are gorgeous, and I must look into your blog here. I love your fashion sense and your husband's photography is fantastic. I am a teacher in Edina and also a freelance writer for the magazine Scarlet Pink.

    Lovely are you! Anita
