After a record April snowfall of 17 inches, this weekend the high is going to be 70 degrees! This extended chill confused birds, plants and humans. The flu season was much longer than usual and my husband, my photographer, came down with a whopper of a cold this week.
I really am a coat gal. Maybe it's because I wear them most of the year except during the summer months. This sixties inspired baroque patterned coat truly is my style. As much as I adore solid colors, the artist in me is in love with playful patterns.

The talented artist Anne at Spy Girl created an wonderful fashion painting of this outfit. I'm honored she did this so take a look at her creation!
Ann, what a pretty coat! The color looks beautiful on you!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are gorgeous as usual!
Ooooh, that is a beautiful coat! Even the name, Nanette Lepore, is beautiful. I love the design lines with the belt, and I adore pattern, especially when it's done perfectly. Whomever designed this coat was meticulous about pattern placement. Well done! And Isaac Mizrahi! You must show more of your blouse in a future post. I love his design aesthetic too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post, and a beautiful lady. Great wall.

Thanks Sue so the lovely comment. If you enjoy wonderful design, I think Nanette Lepore is a incredible talent. Her things are expensive but the craftsmanship is beautiful and timeless. I've purchased the items on my blog throughout the years on sale at Macy's or Bloomingdales. I've also seen them of Ebay. I think this coat is at least five years old, maybe more.
DeleteSpectacular coat, and so very beautiful on you! Sorry to hear you and your husband caught the cold - hope it moves along quickly and you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteFaboulous coat!! I like how the pink wall bring out the gorgeous green of that coat. You look very classy my dear.

Thanks Suzanne...I know feel the same about Nanette Lepore. When Dean and I visited New York we went to her boutique. Now we are not easily intimidated by any type of creative venture, but I must admit I was then. I'm not much of a fan of Hollywood, but when it comes of artists and designers-- I get the tingle of fame.
DeleteIncredible coat!! And I do so love your hairstyle. The pink backdrop is the perfect setting.
ReplyDeleteWow on those shoes. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteYou are this queen of coats:). This one is just lovely. The green is lovely against your complexion and fair hair.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favourite colours, and so perfect on you, dear Ann.
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic weekend.

Beautiful coat, but of course, you know that. I like the way you do pattern mixing - very subtle and complementary, not raucous and rebellious. And you always find the most interesting and appropriate backgrounds!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being able to wear sandals! Maybe the snow is gone now until next November.
Thanks Val for the thoughtful comments. I'm pushing it by wear sandals but winter has been so long!
Deletewhat a lovely coat! i love the color and it suits you so well!
ReplyDeleteYou do have the nicest coats ever. This is a fabulous colour and I love the prints!
ReplyDeleteWhen I look at your coats, I never want to buy a dull colour anymore...

That's a lovely coat and you wear it well. There is a certain whimsy to combining open toe sandals to a coat - how do you handle the different temperatures? I mean, don't your toes get cold or your back get hot (to put it bluntly)?
ReplyDeleteThanks Juli--you are right it's not a practical pairing! I just couldn't resist adding the flower motif of the shoe to this outfit.
DeleteThat coat is just outstanding!
ReplyDeleteYou seriously have a gift for picking amazing coats. I love this one- what a TREASURE. I can see this coat making an entrance in any era, and looking classy and elegant no matter the occasion. Great look on you too.
ReplyDeleteNot only the baroque pattern also the shape of your coat is extraordinary and absolutely gorgeous! You look fabulous and again found a backdrop emphasizing your beautiful outfit.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely perfect in every way!

Oh my, the print of the jacket is breathtaking! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful coat: the colour, the print and the texture! And suits you so much.
ReplyDeleteYes, to the pink and green! This combination has always been one of my favorites and this outfit truly tops it all off. Your coat is absolutely stunning!!! What an incredible background you chose (and found).
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely coat. I love the color and the pattern, especially juxtaposed with the pink wall. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe coat is fatastic and you're really rocking it. Gorgeous shape and colour.
ReplyDeleteFabulous! I look for coats with unique style, color or print all the time. Lucky you to have found such an awesome one.
ReplyDeleteWow! You seriously knock 'em dead with all of your outfits! Where do you go when getting all dressed up? I'm imagining something really exciting like a posh ladies luncheon! :) Love the look!!!
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking coat, and so special with the pink background.

ReplyDeleteDenise
It's a great look on you. I could never pull it off, but I can admire it from afar. Love the jacket.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful coat, love it :)
ReplyDeleteAnn, That coat is (as everyone and their mother has already said) just amazing. What I truly love is the way your ruffle collar shows through at the lapel, and your perfect floral sandal compliments but doesn't match the intent of the jacket.
ReplyDeleteStyled to perfection as always!
xo,
Alyssa
Absolutely one of the most gorgeous coats ever. The cut is astonishing ... fits as if made for you. Great design in great quality, Nanette Lepore. Lucky you, but not just anyone can make this work. Really pretty outfit and surroundings, photos wonderful. But your toes look cold!

That jacket is just so lovely! You look so elegant!
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful coat! The pink wall behind you add something special to your photo. What a pity your earrings are not so clear for me . . .
ReplyDeleteThanks Dan, my earrings are handmade cast from old lace. We do art show so I meet many jewelers and buy often from my neighbors. These were from a young couple just starting out, so it was a pleasure to buy something from them.
Deletethose pants and your jacket! i love it!
ReplyDeleteApparently you have an amazing coat collection! This one is gorgeous, I love the baroque print. Pink and green were my wedding colors :) Love them together!
