During the summer months my husband and I exhibit our art at outdoor fine craft shows. Armed with SPF 70 and dark sunglasses I wear many of the knit dresses, like this one, I have shown on my blog. The clothing for an event like this needs to be festive yet practical. For the art shows I wear comfortable silver one inch heeled sandals with this outfit because the shows often require 12-14 hour days and much of the time I stand while conversing with customers. I also wear handmade jewelry, created by one of my friends, to help inspire the audience to purchase unique jewelry.

Oh, what a pretty dress - it looks like summer must have arrived in Minnesota! I'm green with envy for that bag. Green, and round - how cool!
ReplyDeleteI can't say what I love most, Ann - your dress, the photos, the colours, your necklace... fantastic!
ReplyDeleteIt is a good idea wearing handmade jewellery and I am sure it gathers a lot of extra interest and conversations.
I hope you were able to make good business too!
Have a nice Sunday,
Annette | Lady of Style
What a lovely dress! I love the print and the design, is cute. The shoes are beautiful. The necklace and bag are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAnn, what a lovely summery outfit. The dress is beautifully feminine and those shoes are fabulous. And the necklace is such a beautiful piece. Looks like you are having some beautiful weather.
ReplyDeleteThe dress you are wearing is perfect for the show, and you look delightful with it. The necklace is very modern, and your sandals match the dress so well...I am sure your show will be a success!
ReplyDeleteHi Anne, I found your blog for the first time through 40PlusStyle, when Sylvia featured you. And I see your comments regularly at blogs which I visit as well.
ReplyDeleteUp till now I never wanted to follow you, as you are só good, it took the courage away from me to continue blogging. Now I have said to myself: "You ought to be ashamed of yourself. That is just green envy. You should welcome the fact you can learn from her blog."
So here I am, determined to visit your blog more frequently and as always in awe. Your photography is that good. The styling, the light, the depth, the sharpness of the photos.
As for the whole outfit combination... perfect. I always go wrong in shoes. The yellow shoes you saw are about the only modern pair I have. Normally I stick to pumps which make lots of outfits very classic without that modern edge.
I promise you I won't always be this elaborate when commenting hahaha.

Well what do I say? Art is my business and that is how I make my living. As well as a BFA I have a degree in commercial photography so I know more than a average person about how to make a picture. As a twenty year old I made the choice to leave photography, I think I probably would have ended up a stylist, and follow the life of an artist. I think I was hunting for more personal depth of feelings and individual connection.
DeleteThanks for the sweet and honest comments. I find shoes are my most difficult choice also when styling my outfits. I've have so many but sometimes not the right styles. I'm also dyslexic so writing my post and commenting on blogs is a big challenge and I use the speech option for everything I write. Plus the use of a computer is also a challenge although doing this blog is teaching me so much.
Ai, dyslexic... that is not easy. You are doing a wonderful job, so be proud. And as for blogging... it is teaching me so much. Also about photography as I did not know the first thing about it. And great pictures make a better blog. Taking baby steps. One at a time.
DeleteAnn, just as Greetje said I do love your photos and the fact that you outfits are modern and very city-chic!
DeleteI also love the locations that you pick for your photos and would love to learn more about your art and the art fairs or festivals that you attend.
Have a great week,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I've been thinking of adding some of my art. I think maybe in the winter because I'm so limited with the weather in January in Minnesota.
DeleteI love this whole look!! I really wish I could walk in shoes like this...so jealous. They are really cool...but I could do that necklace!!
ReplyDeleteThe best shot for me by far was the shot of the shoe. Stunning. I need to work with my camera more. Every time it seems that the sky is overexposed.

Thanks Suzanne. I'm taking these photos myself so I needed to think of a way to get a picture of the shoes.
DeleteSuch a unique dress, really lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue background you choose for your outfit pictures.
ReplyDeleteYou look great! Love the shoes.
ReplyDeleteFabulous backdrop, Ann, and an exquisite outfit. Love the drape of the dress and the fine necklace too - thanks for sharing it with Visible Monday.
ReplyDeleteIt's a random storage locker painted a pretty blue!
DeleteI love how your photos make even the most practical outfit an editorial feast for the eye! Lovely, dress, lovely shoes, lovely you!
ReplyDeleteAlicia
Gorgeous! I love how the shoes play up the blue in the dress without exactly matching (do they?) The flow of the dress is amazing and seems as if it could easily be wearable all day long. Perfect. And, as usual, your photos are perfection. Love it all!!! Have a wonderful week,

Love this breezy dress - and the shoes are fab!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty dress! Love the way the different colours of same print are used in its design. The necklace too is an eye-catcher.
ReplyDeleteLove your artistic eye! Those shoes are so pretty and such a unique color! And the necklace is the perfect touch! Finding stylish and comfy shoes that you can stand/walk in all day - that's a myth is it? If you find a pair, please do share. Have a great week!

Another amazing and inspiring post. The soft blue is one of my most favorite colors, so soothing and relaxing. I feel so grateful we get a free glimpse at your talent each week. I want to frame your photo of the necklace, that is worthy of hanging somewhere. I need to plan a trip to visit one of your shows, now that would be one inspiring day. You look fantastic!
ReplyDeletesuch a summery dress, love its print and shape, and love how it matches the blue background and the green grass!, your pics are always fabulous!
ReplyDeleteso pretty necklace and bag indeed!
