My local consignment shop, Turnstyle in Roseville, Minnesota, began it's summer clearance last week and I picked up three dresses and some patent leather items. I remember a few years ago noticing this bag at Macy's and I'm happy to give these shiny accessories a try for a great price. I'm inspired by many of you fellow bloggers that are excellent consignment and thrift shoppers. Hope it's not too warm in your corner of the world!

Summer clearance are the right moment to catch treasures. Your picks are well choosen! The bag is fabulous ( you know how much I like bags...)your dress has a very nice print and suits you so well, but ... in my corner of the world now is too hot for that kind of dresses!
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't hot last week when I took these picture but today is steamy. The air conditioning is turning on often this morning so I think I'm going to find something light weight to wear today. Thanks for commenting Dan!
DeleteOh my. Those shoes...that bag! You could have been an extra in the Matrix : )
ReplyDeleteGlad you found some shade to hang out in for the photos.
bisous

Wowwwwwww my heart beats faster at the sight of your patent leather bag and shoes, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteI find much more exciting to buy second hand. Once you try you are hooked, LOL
Looking wonderful, dear Ann

Wow! Great shoes - especially the two straps and buckles!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! Nothing like black patent leather.....
ReplyDeleteI'm blinded by their shine!
DeleteAs a almost 30 years second hand and thrift shopper, I always get so excited when I get my hands on an item that I was not able to afford retail but I'm able to get it second hand!
I love patent leather and wish I could be so lucky to find such treasures. They fit you perfect with smooth hair and skin ( something I learned in Image consulting school)
ReplyDeleteWe have a Turnstyle Consignment location here in Scottsdale, AZ. I love shopping there! The dress and the shoes are great finds.

Very classy all around. And those shoes have a little bit of edge - they're so sexy!
ReplyDeleteThat's such an elegant dress! And it goes so well with the patent shoes and bag. I really like the location you picked for the shoot, it so unique and I really like the symmetry of the tunnel.

Thanks Kamilla. I'm shooting the last couple of sets of pictures myself with a tripod. I'm trying to expand how my photos look and feel, more of a broader range of mood.
DeleteIt is so exciting to find 'treasures' in consignment and thrift stores. This dress is beautful and I am a lover of all things patent, so the bag and shoes make my heart flutter:) The neckline of the dress works extremely well with the length of your hair and creates such a lovely frame for your beautiful face.
ReplyDeleteAnd once again, such a fabulous locatiion. Ann I would love to do some "location" shots but I am so self conscious to do this in public, how do you find it? I think you have said your husband is often your photographer, so is it normally the two of you 'on location'?
I'm doing the last few posts in a smaller city of about 60,000 where my Dad lives. I did this post and the previous post with a tripod myself and found a sense of freedom with this process. My husband has a great eye and it does go faster if he takes them. I do find places where there isn't very many people because I do feel silly sometimes. A couple of girls road by on their bikes and gave me some strange looks..oh well.
DeleteThose shoes are gorgeous!! Did you make the earrings yourself? I need to learn the secrets of thrifting. Every time I go, I never seem to find anything.

Thanks for stopping and commenting. I didn't make my jewelry. I know a lot of jewelers from doing art shows myself and I have purchased or traded my own art with them to obtain some unique pieces. If you have a Turnstyle in your area it's worth checking out. I think it is a national chain store. I sell my clothes there and the selection is good of many fabulous thing.
DeleteNo way I could find any of these gorgeous items at one of our secondhand shops - and we hardly have any...
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning look, Ann, I love everything from head to toe.

Thanks Annette. This consignment store is selective on what they sell. Sometimes when I bring my items in for consideration, I find it hard to believe some of the things they reject. Their goal is to sell items of a current style, mostly one or two years old. The shoes and dress were half price, each around $10. The Coach bag, looks brand new, for $60.
DeleteWow shiny black leather in the summer, only you could make it look so effortlessly cool and graceful Ann! That dress is wonderful on you.
ReplyDeleteWicked shiny black strappy heels. Love them!
ReplyDeleteIt is way too hot where I am (Toronto). With the humidity, it has felt like 46C (114F). Too damn hot.
I love all your dresses, so pretty. That bag and those shoes are GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh... I must give consignment shopping a whirl! Your finds a black patent perfection... consignment or not!!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds. I like the dress, but adore the shoes and bag!! Have a great week ahead!
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos and wow, fabulous shoes! I have that Coach bag too and really enjoy it. Thanks for sharing your great look with Visible Monday.
ReplyDeleteI don't think a girl can have too many patent leather items, espeically shoes like those and a great handbag. Your first photo is absolutely breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and sexy shoes! Love the dress too. At first sight I thought it has animal print and only with a closer look I noticed that it is not.
ReplyDeleteHow much $, How much? I would love to know what you spent on those consignment items. I learned of a new consignment store in my area yesterday via a gal at church after she asked about my hot 'madden girl' platforms. (http://www.simplesequins.com/2013/07/top-stitching-with-touch-of-gold.html) I was a bit vain in stating, "Plato's Closet, $8" [in a bit of a light sing-songy voice]
ReplyDeleteYour whole ensemble is tremendous, but ...where are you taking these snaps? I like it because of the contrast.
love everything about this post... the outfit choices, the whole outfit together, the shoes! and the location of the shoot... this is awesome.

I not only LOVE your style but also love your pictures settings. Subscribed by email girl.
ReplyDeleteOh thanks for the info of your items. That is great fun to get things for a fraction of original. My all time fave hobby is thrift-shopping. So I guess that is why I blog about it. THANK YOU for your nice compliments.
ReplyDeleteLovely dress, great bag, but you have to know HOW MUCH I LOVE THOSE SHOES!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you have them if I can'!
Grrr... our few consignment shops want me to pay a premium for completely worn out Naturalizers that I wouldn't give closet space if they were new.
You look great, and I even like the edgy photo site! Mad skills you got, girl.
I love consignment shops!! I have found the coolest things in those type of stores. Your dress is chic and classic and the shoes of course the perfect match as usual. I love patent and I am so glad is a classic leather finish. Thanks so much Ann for your sweet comments in my posts...you are a doll.

Your consignment store purchases are gorgeous. The thrill of the hunt! The black and white pattern of the dress accented by the patent leather makes the perfect combo. I love the contrast of your chic presence on the industrial background.
ReplyDeleteYour together style in a bike tunnel - brilliant photo set. I especially like the tension in the photo of your bag on the ground and you standing, arms open, next to it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Melanie. I like that odd photo also. I want to try doing more interesting modeling.
Deleteabsolutely fabulous shoes and bag, black patent is really my cup of tea, love it!, and your b&w dress is amazing too, you look so cool and chic!
ReplyDeletebesos
Such a flattering dress! Gorgeous, as always.
