80's Styling Revisited for Fall
Ah the 1980's......big hair, asymmetric design and pointy stilettos. I was in art school then. We used "Final Net" hairspray as a fixative on our charcoal drawings, then sprayed our hair, just to keep it big and spiky!
This jacket is from the pre-fall collection from BCBG one of my favorite designers. I find their coats and jackets downright exciting and this fall season is no exception. If you swing by one of their stores, take a peak. Hope you find some inspiration as I do.

You look thoroughly modern, very nice!
ReplyDeleteI seem to be attracted to modern design at the moment. I'm moving my current purchases toward this kind of styling.
DeleteThis jacket has so many great details from the peplum style to the great print. I love it paired with the flared skirt. Have a great weekend!

What a fabulous silhouette, Ann! Especially the photo from the back is stunning.
ReplyDeleteThe jacket is awesome and I love you only styled it with very classy pieces to keep the rest simple although very chic.

It's this kind of detailing, like the back of this jacket, that keeps me purchasing BCBG. Thanks Annette!
DeleteEverything on you is art, dear Ann
ReplyDeleteI love your jacket, the perfect fit skirt, and wonderful shoes.
Wonderful indeed, dear friend.

Ann, the jacket is great, I love the asymmetrical shape and the pattern is cute. The skirt is very pretty, I love this long and low, steering wheel finish, it's beautiful. The shoes are ... marvelous. Great outfit, you're really stylish. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThe skirt makes a feminine silhoiette and is perfect for you. The shoes are also great.
ReplyDeleteI really lihe your haircut, very chic. Have a nice weekend, Cla

Thanks, this outfit feels great to wear. Maybe the jacket with pants as it gets cooler.
DeleteThat jacket is pretty amazing! Thanks so much for linking up this week! Btw, I saw you in Redbook this month....congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteI just saw the previous comment - you're in Redbook?? I must buy it! Congratulations on whatever it was for (fashion? art?).
ReplyDeleteThis jacket is ah-maz-ing! I love the color mix of snakeskin - I think snakeskin will be the new leopard, and I love it! This has a sort of Chanel - street vibe, which is very cool.
Ya I'm in the October issue of Redbook! It's a photo of me wearing a leopard coat, fun!
DeleteThis jacket is gorgeous!! SO unique and fun. I absolutely love the shape and colors.

It's funny because in general I don't like BCBG. Every time you wear it though I love it on you. Very unique.

Thanks Suzanne. Some of the pieces are just too much, but some I adore. It's the jackets and coats I find most interesting. Right now there's some knit dresses, like Missoni style knit, that are wonderful. I have one from last year and I just purchased a knit skirt from the fall collection. They are worth taking a look at.
DeleteYou look very classic, stunning!

An awesome jacket! I love those asymmetrical black panels and of course the print. You look so very elegant and sophisticated.
ReplyDeleteYour new jacket deserved a post! It looks wonderful on you, and also the skirt, tight at the waist and wider at the bottom, is very nice on you. The whole outfit is so feminine and enhances your beautiful figure.
ReplyDeleteAnd, by the way, I find you look special in these photos. . .the modern side of fashion!
Perfection. Again. The day has yet to come when I don't like your outfit or something about your outfit. That day will come I am sure. As you cannot please everyone all of the time.
ReplyDeleteSo far, I admire everything. The way you pick things up. Like the bracelet with the shoes. And the geometric of the jacket with the bracelet. But combined with a flowy skirt. Very good.
Greetje
Thanks Greetje for commenting. Well yesterday we photographed an outfit that wasn't to exciting. I thought the dress was so cool and it ended up looking matronly. Your right it's going to happen.
DeleteI bought a cardigan and a belt yesterday. Thought it was marvellous. My husband did not. Then I took photos.... I my goodness, was he right!
DeleteI've had the same happen. Sometimes I will ask Dean how this looks and he gives me the sad look. He is usually right.
DeleteAnn that jacket is such a statement piece and fits you perfectly. I just read your comment above:). Photographing outfits is an interesting process. I am amazed, and disappointed, at how on occasion an outfit that looks so fab in the mirror, doesn't always look so fab through the eye of the camera. I bet it doesn't happen to you often;)
ReplyDeleteI usually check the outfit with a quick picture on the Ipad. Yesterday it was about to rain and I thought the light looked so interesting so out the door we went. The site is great but the outfit didn't translate so good in pictures, to simple in design. I like it in real life though.
DeleteGiven that you and I are the same age, I can relate your comments on the 80s. Those shoes especially are very 80s with the gold swoosh (and very today too!) I'd love you to link up this SNAKEY look to the Verizon Voices Fashionista Style Hop this week: http://stillblondeafteralltheseyears.com/2013/09/mackinac-island-style-verizon-voices-fashionista-style-hop-9-10/ Thanks for linking up last week and thanks for your support! PS. Did I tell you I got the Calvin Klein Venture shoes we talked abot on ebay for $54! (you probably did better at the consignment store). I was thrilled. They were NEW in box!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit! Such creative pictures - I love it! Thank you so much for linking up with What I'm Loving Fridays! Hope to see you back this week. Have a great weekend!

Beautiful outfit Ann! What a crack up about the hair spray. I had a serious flat top working with spikes back in the mid 80's myself. I used to LOVE short hair, the way it felt when I touched it. Thanks for bringing back the memories, so much fun!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI was waiting for someone to talk about their 80's hair. Too cool, Gabriala with a flat top with spikes! I'm smiling as I write this. The 80's were just so much fun with all the wild trends.
DeleteAnn, I still remember the smell of "Final Net", and i also used it for the finishing spray on art work and then my hair. Oh, those big fun bangs.
ReplyDeleteThis jacket is definitely an inspiration, I'm going to head right over to their sight in just a minute. You've probably been posting this for awhile but I just noticed the location part at the end, great idea.
I love animal prints and was thrilled when I saw your beautiful jacket. The colors are unique and match so many outfits. It even contain blue, so they also fit to blue jeans. The skirt makes the outfit very classy and stylish and the shoes are a true eye-catcher. A gorgeous tastfully chosen outfit dear Ann, like it very much :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week

Thanks Dana Jo, I think you are right. Jeans are a good idea for this jacket.
DeleteAnother stunning outfit. I love the perfect fit of both top and jacket and how it suits you so well. Perfect accessories also
ReplyDeleteYou make any background shine! The stunning jacket fits you with perfection and the skirt is lovely, with its flirty hemline. Along with the pointy toed stilettos, this silhouette thrills.
ReplyDeleteAqua Net was the hair spray of choice when I was growing up! It was like cement to the french roll that was my favorite hair style in the 60's.
I really love this outfit, the top is sooo stylish and I love the 80's feel to it and the bracelet is really chic.
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit post

What a pretty patterned jacket. You styled it extremely well.
ReplyDeleteThat shirt is amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm weak at the knees over this outfit, especially your shoes. I love each individual piece, but the sum is even greater than the parts, as usual! Looks very now to me, but I see the 80's reference. I'm so happy to see so much navy and black around. I don't remember what color shoes I ever wore with navy ... never had any navy ones. Must have been black!
ReplyDeleteCan't picture you in spiky hair! Ah, art school memories ... most of mine lead to scandal!
Gah, the jacket is just sharp, sharp, sharp! I remember Final Net from my backcombing days in the late 60s!
ReplyDeleteThat jacket is so amazing! I always love your jackets :)

Dying over the jacket and shoes!
ReplyDeleteHa ha, Final Net! I was always an Aqua Net girl myself--Super Extra Hold in the black can :)
ReplyDeleteI love the jacket the most! Extraordinary, and lovely blog!
ReplyDeleteHow about following each other? Let me know. :)

ReplyDeleteI too love BCBG - they never disappoint! And I have to say, this is the best looking "80's outfit" I've ever seen. Love that jacket!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous jacket and great outfit with that skirt. So elegant and edgy.

Love that jacket.
ReplyDeleteSorry it's been a while since I last visited - that jacket is a structural work of art, I love the contrasting patterns and the blue grey hues are wonderful on you!
ReplyDeleteThis blazer is simply amazing! One of a kind piece, you look gorgeous!
