Watercolor Silk Trench Coat

What about a wide belt with a light weight trench coat? All oldies but goodies here, except the boots, and adding a belt to this coat makes it feel new. I bought these boots last month and I'm wearing them with everything.

Thanks for all the supportive comments concerning our art show last week. It was a success and if I didn't respond back as usual I was busy at this event. I going to do some pictures at my studio once the weather makes it to difficult to photograph outside. The first snow happened just after I took these pictures.

  2. Hmmm, I don't think my last comment went through. Basically, I love the coat and the bag and your hair! And I might try a belt and/or watercolor on my boring coat. Inspiration!

    1. I could see some painting on the light colored collar and cuffs of your coat. I been cutting my hair a bit shorter and more texturized the last couple of cuts. Thanks for commenting and I hope you have a great weekend!

  3. Love this, Anne. You always manage to find a great background to enhance your looks. I haven't worn a coat yet this fall...but I hope the colder weather will show up soon!

  6. The belt looks born to the coat. And the coat looks like you've had your way with it in your studio - it's divine. SNOW?!! I'm glad your art show went well. Whew.

  7. I love the new swoosh in your hair style. You have a beautiful side profile. I wish mine was as attractive (as you don't see them in my blog).
Black booties and black tights are going to be a staple for me this winter, as well. As long as I can stand the cold.
    Another perfect outfit!

  12. What can I say? A beautiful coat!! And so well matched with the bag. The booties are very cute with that strap at the back. Did you see they also have them in red? And blue? Delicious.
As always your backgrounds and photos are superb. Big thank you to your husband.

    1. Thanks Greetje. The last three posts I've been taking the pictures myself with the timer. I feel kind of goofy doing it but it works. It would be nice to have this boot in several colors.

    2. I have learned a few lessons about photography and how to get a picture sharp, but when I use the timer I cannot do these things. There is nothing in front of the camera to focus on. How do you do that?

    3. Photographing on a bright day will give you a wider field of focus, so that helps. I often angle the position of the camera and stand in the area that is in focus on automatic. Standing in a open space is impossible to do by yourself. Sometimes I use the manual focus on the lens and camera, finding the focus by my eye. I will often use a chair or prop to focus on, then hop into the frame using the timer. I'm going to do a post in the next few months about tips on getting better pictures. Hope this helps!

  16. I can see why you're wearing the boots every day. Very chic, and they look beautiful with the coat, which is itself a piece of art. The belt was a grand idea! I love jackets and coats. Maybe it's because I grew up in Minnesota.

Happy to hear that your show went well.

    1. Hey thanks Judith. You are right about MN, we do have every possible type of weather so having many types of coats is just part of living here!

  17. This is very pretty Ann. The issue I have with belting a coat that doesnt have belt loops, is when I arrive to my destination and I then want to remove the coat. What to do with the belt?

    1. That's a good point. I hang a coat like this on a hanger and take the belt and hook it over the top of the hanger.

      Delete
    2. You carry a hanger with you? I guess the California lifestyle is very different. Rarely do you find a coat check. Usually if you wear a coat and have to remove it, you're forced to just drape it on your chair.

    3. Most public places have a coat rack with hangers here in MN. We wear coats or jackets from September to April because it is cold half the year. Today the high was in the 20's and tonight it will be 9 degrees. Rarely do you see a coat check.

You, of course, have the taste and the savvy to do it so well! Love your boots, too, belt and bag as well! Lovely site, lovely you, as always.

    1. Target does make some good belts that are affordable. This one is at least five years old but I'm guessing they do have some stylish belts for fall. I think I paid less the $25 for this one.

    1. The first pictures we took were using the Ipad. We did this for 2-3 months and they were good. I think I am going to do some kind of revue of my blog pictures talking about how backgrounds can really enhance your outfits. As much as I like the studio post, compared to some of my other pictures, the outfit doesn't standout as much.

  35. Sometimes a coat just needs a substantial belt to add some KAPOW! Great choice, and the colours in the coat are quite lovely. Nice background; the coat really pops against the brick red.
