During a quick walk through an discount store, I spotted this Rag and Bone red dress looking lonely and on a rack of deeply discounted items. It was $44 and I thought why is this here? Just one dress, well made, in my size and a color I adore. I know you all have been through this, looking for a dress for a special event like a wedding and there's not one thing that fits or is the right price. It was an easy decision to buy this item. Paired with a consignment purchased coat, it's still cold here in Minneapolis, and worn with a necklace from BCBG. Then finish with the Riana Handbag by Maxwell Scott, I'm ready for my next time a wedding invitation arrives in the mail.
I could not find the exact necklace online which I'm wearing in this post. Here's some other great statement necklaces from BCBG which would be a fine addition to any dress.

I just received a wedding invitation today. It'll be in Omaha and I don't think we'll be going. Do you want to go instead? ; )
ReplyDeleteThe contrast between your elegant urban style and the industrial backgrounds is always fascinating, especially seeing the accessories laid out against concrete or other rough surfaces. It's a beautiful dress, but I love the handbag best!
I'm closer and got the dress!! Thanks Val for commenting about the contrast.
DeleteAnn, you look so beautiful in this dress!! Just WOW! It fits you perfectly - just like it was custom made for you. I love how you paired the dress with gray tights - such an elegant combination! The first photo is gorgeous - very sensual and lovely woman you are! I hope invitations will come in bunches! :) (And as a writer, I appreciate the story - a lonely dress, and now it found a friend, how sweet! :) Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have many nephews in their late 20's so when I saw this dress, I'm guessing some weddings are coming in the near future. Thanks for your sweet comments!
DeleteGreat Outfit!! Love the chain!!

There's so much snow, three foot tall drifts, that it is inside for all pictures. We have been experiment with a diffused flash in the last few posts. These pictures are at the studio building.
DeleteA beautiful dress, love the design and color. You look very elegant with it. The coat, bag and necklace are magnificent. Great outfit.
ReplyDeleteSo chic and fabulous...I cannot believe what you paid for this dress. It was made for you and this whole outfit is stunning and perfect for any special occasion. What a great look, Ann!
ReplyDeleteI love the spot you found to shoot this outfit! Fantastic. The textures and flooring are an artist's dream : )
ReplyDeleteThat dress is gorgeous and it fits you like a glove. Plus red is just so dang classic, and of course great on blonds.
bisous
Suzanne
My studio building houses about 200 different artist spaces. So many places to take pictures but low light. Learning more about using a flash. Thanks Suzanne, I know you would love this building!
DeleteWhat a great find, and you've styled it beautifully! Chiming in with everyone else to appreciate the artistry of your photos and wonderful selection of backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is stunning on you. I would have bought it too.
ReplyDeleteI´m sure it was a easy decision to buy these dress. for me a red dress is a fantastic statement und hey for this priece...
ReplyDeleteYou look great in these combination.
Have a good weekend
What a beautiful dress - lucky you! I have a wedding coming up at the beginning of June in Virginia so I am starting to look for dresses.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately most are sleeveless and I would love something like you are wearing but in a lighter fabric for the summer. Maybe I'll be lucky like you and score the perfect dress!
So many sleeveless dresses. I don't understand why, it's cold in the winter. I see the newscasters here in Minneapolis wearing sleeveless dresses while the men have on full suits during the winter. Hope you find something great! Let me know what you find?
DeleteSay Rebecca are you up for a dress with pattern? I can recommend the Adele wrap dress by BCBG. I'm 5'4" and I size up to a medium to get a bit longer and not so low cut in front. It has sleeves and is nice summer fabric. I one on in an August post. Just looked at the site and there's a nice blue print of $99. Many times you can get another 30% discount on clearance. I just bought a similar one, in blues, for $50. I don't know if this would work for you but I thought I would mention it!
DeleteThanks for the info. Ann! I will definitely check this dress out. As a matter of fact, there is a BCBG store next to work.
DeleteYou are a stunning woman! That dress looks amazing on you and the accessories are more than perfect. I know you were turning heads the day you wore that dress.

ReplyDeleteAnn you look so gorgeous. It's a very lady like and sophisticated ensemble. The colour is perfect for you. AND it has sleeves.. you know that is almost a miracle in retail at the moment:) And you won't believe but I think I had the exact same coat!! It didn't work for me so I passed it on to a friend.
ReplyDeleteAnn that red dress was just waiting for you, as the colour and fit are just so.Love your photographs, they are always inspiring.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great dress and I love how you used the statement necklace as your focal point. Everything about this outfit is stunning. And what a great find - this dress was meant to be yours.

Why is this here? For Ann Wood, of course. I'm surprised it didn't have a hold sign on it with your name on it. It suits you to a T! And again,. you've chosen a photo shoot location to rival any high fashion magazine! Okay, I do love the size of your photos...they show the details to perfection!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right in buying this dress. It is like the ultimate little black dress in a more exciting colour. Looks perfect on you. Lovely necklace too (I am much of a necklace lover).
ReplyDeleteGreetje
So chic ! a wonderful outfit, with best wishes.
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic Ann! This dress fits you perfectly, good job you got it! The bag is also to die for !! Hugs, Beata xxx
ReplyDeleteAt first glance I thought the arrow was an avant garde extension of the dress or belt, just don't turn corners too quickly. Great location, as always. This colour is wickedly lovely. Bargains like these don't come every day. Good one.
ReplyDeleteThe dress, the bag and all.. you look like a modern day Jackie O! Perfect for wedding and other formal events
ReplyDeleteHow often we women find a lonely dress on a rack wich is just waiting for us!! :-) And it's really impossible to resist! Your dress is so beautiful and red is a very vitaminic colour...so , congratulation for the pick! The combination with gray is one of my favourites. Great necklace and bag too...
ReplyDeleteThanks Dan, I could see you wearing this dress too. Do you wear red, maybe a different color?
DeleteBeautiful dress, love the colour :)
ReplyDeletereally nice necklace and so elegant dress!

That is a gorgeous dress, Ann, and looks like it was made for you. Great find! Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is great and fits you so well - I wish I had been so lucky to find that in my size. :) If you're interested, I host a weekly Fashionably Employed Link Up (live on Mondays) and I think this would make a great addition. On a separate note, I grew up in St Paul and now live in Chicago so I can relate to the cold weather and indoor posts - ugh! But you still managed to make those indoor lighting shots look great. I also love the turquoise and mustard outfit you posted a few days back (another great Link Up contribution, if you'd like). Thanks for sharing!

Ok I knew BCBG did shoes but, I had no clue there were necklace by them too. My Word! I guess that is what I get for hanging out in thrift shops instead of Malls. hahahaha. I love how you photographed the necklace while on the floor. Great ingenuity! Thanks for the compliment on my hair. Coming from you {i love your hair} that is a great compliment! Have a fabulous Monday, my friend!
ReplyDeleteAnne, when things happen that way, it is meant to be. $44 for Rag and Bone...I can't believe it! You look great!
ReplyDeleteI know Glenda, someone must have had it hanging in the closet for awhile and returned it. I bought it the TJMax. The weather has been so cold here, I'm guessing dresses are not selling very quickly.
DeleteYou look fabulous, Ann. I love your red dress, it's a warm red and a classic piece. With the neclace and the bag, your outfit is stunning.

ReplyDeleteAnn, you look simply stunning in this dress! Such a perfect fit, such a beautiful colour and such an elegant design. And what an amazing necklace! The only thing you need now is that invitation.
ReplyDeleteStill cold in Minneapolis made me laugh a little - it's still cold in Louisville! As in Minneapolis cold!! Uh yeah, I'd grab a Rag & Bone red dress in my size for $44 if I ever saw one in a consignment shop as if it was just waiting there for me and only me!! What a score! Love it with the black and white coat and simple black tights and shoes. Perfection!
ReplyDeleteHello , wow after looking at some of the pictures, I can think of several things. You look beautiful! I love your coats, and because I am in NC I am glad not to be in the snow!
