Cobalt Blue Lace
I've been watching this BCBG dress in the store for several months. I like the bright cobalt blue and the vintage design, but I think lace can be hard to wear. All the connections to lingerie......my thought go to "Maybe lace is best left for the undergarments?" Once it was reduced to 60% off, I decided to give the dress a spin. I enjoy finding challenging items and trying to style them in a way that fits my personality and life.
Thank you to those who joined my site. As the weather gets warmer in my part of the world, I hope to share my ideas for fashion stories in the landscape of the beautiful upper midwest.

Simply beautiful. You look lovely. The initial thought that comes to mind when I think blue lace, coupled with our age group, is matronly. And, this dress totally blows that idea out of the water. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteI love your wonderful blue lace dress, Ann
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.
What a wonderful colour on you, and I like how the construction of this dress, together with your accessories, saves it from other lace-associations.
ReplyDeleteI so admire the photography on your blog as well as your style - thanks for sharing a bit about your process!
The dress fits you perfectly and has a lovely colour.
ReplyDeleteYour booties give it a bit of an edge and therefore it is neither lingerie style nor girly.
You look great!

What a beautiful dress - the color is gorgeous, and it looks lovely on you. It's a nice balance between dressy and easy-going. The same style could be done in denim or jersey and look so casual, but in lace it can be dressed up or down. Love the shoes, too!
ReplyDeleteThat dress is unbelievably gorgeous. And I love everything about how you styled it.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the lovely comment!
DeleteWhat an elegant dress! It's so ladylike but playful at the same time. Also, you have the absolute best shooting locations! What a great eye you have for places to shoot!

I tried black but to seems to dark. The tights are gray, blue and the shoes are dark purple. Thanks for commenting!
DeleteMy initial thoughts on lace are the same but i recently purchased a fuchsia lace dress and it's become one of my favorite pieces. I love the color of your dress and you wear it beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel, fuchsia lace sounds beautiful. I agree, I think lace can be adaptable and fun to wear!
DeleteYou know, sometimes it's inappropriate, but your demure look with the tights and close-toed shoes pulls off the lace just perfectly. Love that blue!!!! Thanks so much for link up with the BEST OF last week!!! I'm sure looking forward to seeing more of your outfits!!!! xo, Kristen
