The end of summer clearance is the time I look for dresses to add to my most worn category of clothing during the warm months of the year. I'm fond of these colors and I like this pattern so this comfortable wrap dress fits in well as a long term purchase. I styled it with shiney silver jewelry and my new summer favorite, black patent leather.

A few of you requested to see some of my artwork. Here's a short piece that aired on public TV about us four years ago. It's a taste of the kind of things we make!
Ann, I love this dress as you know wrap dresses are my favourites. I'd immediately wear that! And that Kenneth Cole bracelet is just my style.
ReplyDeleteI can't express how impressed I am by your work! My father is a retired woodcarver (my hometown is world famous for woodcarvings) and I know how much creativity and time goes into a single piece. Besides religious nativity sets and crucifixes, also toys like jumping-jacks made our town famous centuries ago.
Your paintings and your husband's very detailed moving figures are amazing. I am sure you'd both be very much interested in the work done over here.
Thank you so much for sharing this video! I really love it.
Annette | Lady of Style
We visited the Met in New York a couple of years ago and Dean was amazed by the historical German wood carved figures. Fun to hear about your connection to this tradition. We both love art of all kinds and I know we would be vastly interested in seeing Europe's treasures. One of oldest friends lives in Berlin and loves it there.
DeleteAnn, this outfit is simply beautiful. And you have accessorised it perfectly. I cannot see the video on my iPad but will move to my desk top to take a look.
ReplyDeleteBut what a lovely dress! I love this pattern and I love the design, with the steering wheel on the front. I really like the final detail of the skirt, with the pattern in the negative, it's beautiful. Your shoes and your necklace are two cuties. Gorgeous look, that you look beautiful in it.
ReplyDeleteThank you. This pattern is fun to wear, you can see me coming down the street! I like that it's bold and I can't blend in wearing this dress.
ReplyDeletethat dress is so pretty
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress! I love how you've kept the other accessories so simple and bold; it creates a nice balance.
ReplyDeleteI am so partial to a wrap dress, particularly DVF. You look wonderful, as usual.

I'm with you on the wrap dresses, thanks for commenting.
DeleteAnn, I love the dress, the way it wraps and the contrasting edge. But I'm just blown away by your art! It's just magical. I love that you and your husband have talents that collaborate so well together to create something so unusual. The craftsmanship is apparent, and each piece is so unique. I also like seeing you in your art. Please share more whenever you can!
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if this is right place to show this. I thought what a heck, it me and going to share it. Thanks Val for stopping by and commenting.
DeleteDear Ann, such a gorgeous dress - love the piping - and your necklace is lovely too, the simple, dramatic accessories set the dress off perfectly. The pic of your hand against the scored brick carries the same kind of humour and mystery which flowers so fully and beautifully in your art.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of, THANK YOU for including the video! Awesome to witness you in action and get to see and learn about your and Dean's art. Your work is amazing, gentle yet powerful, made with such exquisite care, and moving in all senses of the word.
That picture was Dean's idea, I like the blankness of this shot. I so much enjoyed your post this week. You are so talented.
DeleteLikewise, Ann! For all our hesitation to include other elements of our lives, the responses are wonderful - I really enjoy knowing a bit more!
DeleteThe dress suits you very vell and I love your bracelet, but I was impressed by the movie, and seeing you in your studio was a real pleasure. Unfortunately I couldn't hear your words, but I will try it later... I have enjoyed very much your mechanical art, which I find so delicate...I congratulate you for your work!!
ReplyDeleteI just look at this post on the Ipad and the film didn't appear. Sorry the sound didn't work for you. We downloaded the piece for youtube so Dean thought it might not be compatible on all devices. I'm adding a link in my text to youtube directly.
DeleteGorgeous - this is the perfect wrap dress for summer. I've been eying those fab Calvin K. shoes, and they look fabulous on you. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday!
ReplyDeletePattern dress and the color is beautiful!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress, and the photos are just too fantastic for words! So, so pretty! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove the print of this dress too! And both of you are very talented; I'm always rooting for artists to make a living with their art! I know from first hand experience how hard it can be. xoxo

Thanks for posting the video of the beautiful art work that you and your husband do. If you are ever in NYC at one of the craft shows, I'd love to see it in person.
ReplyDeleteP.S. As always, you look elegant and stunning in this outfit!
Thanks Rebecca for taking a look at the video and commenting. We have done shows in Philadelphia and DC but not in NYC. We do have a new line of cards and we are thinking maybe the NY Gift Show is a possibility. I will let you know if we attend. Do you have a blog?
ReplyDeleteSorry Ann but I don't have a blog. I follow your blog closely so if you put the info on it, I will definitely be able to access it.
DeleteHope you and your husband do decide to visit the NY Gift show!
I love your blog, I love your hair (very similar to mine) and how stylish and cool you look. You are what I hope to be 10 years later.
ReplyDeleteTotally following your blog.
This dress is gorgeous on you.
Daphne.
I love hearing from women younger than myself. One of the reasons I started blogging 6 months ago was to show as one gets older you can still be stylish. Thanks so much for your sweet comments.
DeleteLovely dress - just as great as simple! Bric backgorund makes shoots particular!
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done, Ann! This dress is perfect on you and I loved how you paired it up against the orange wall. You are an amazing artist!
ReplyDeleteDear Ann,
ReplyDeleteI'm deeply impressed by your art. The faces of the puppets and of the persons you painted, their eyes, it is as if they are speaking to me. Thank you so much for showing the film!
Your dress of course is wonderful too, the mix of the colors is exceptional and suit you well.
You are gorgeous in your wrap dress, the silver jewelry and your black patent leather shoes. You and your ensembles are as artistic as your paintings. It was so much fun to hear your voice and inspiring to view the collaboration between you and your husband. I enjoyed the video and was fascinated by the intricate details; each piece is magnificent.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment and for following :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry but, i can't see you on my gfc bar...
I follow you now on gfc and bloglovin and
i can't wait to see the next post :D
Happy Day!
xoxo Kira
What a beautiful dress! Obsessed with those shoes too!
ReplyDeleteYour video is the best thing that's happened to me in a month!!!! I can't wait to get back to my email and send a The URL to Dan at work so he won't have to wait all day to see this!!!! There's a bit of *mori memento* about your collaborations ... but with a sweetness (the non-cloying kind) that makes this slightly macabre feel completely non-threatening. Comforting, and not without challenge! And there's a lovely modernity that makes the folk influence completely relevant for modern folks! I'm such a fan. So fine to see them move, and the two of you together. Your portrait of your darling husband is beyond lovely. Of course you love and understand Frida. It's not just about her unibrow and national garb, is it?
ReplyDeleteYou look great, of course, in your minty and dark wrap dress. Love with the black! I know you wear this with boots ... can we see it again in winter?
I'm so stoked, can you tell? Thanks so much!
Thanks Jan! You have described our artwork to the tee. I showed your words to Dean and he thought your use of language was impressive just as I do. We appreciate your supportive comments.
Deletewhat an AWESOME and fun dress... and your hair makes me want to cut mine again!
ReplyDeleteFantastic art pieces! I'm in Maple Grove and would love to see an exhibit. Do you have anything coming up in the Twin Cities area? Love your blog and your personal style, it’s fun following a fellow Minnesotan.…dontchaknow!
ReplyDeleteWell hello fellow Minnesotan! The next show we have I will announce it on my blog for the audience in the Twin Cities. Fun to hear I have some local people interested in this blog.
DeleteOh thank you Ann! So nice to see you again today. Those jeans are so fun and since I have lost some weight they are even better than when I bought them. Those zippers at the side are so fierce and fun at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Renae. Good for you, losing weight is hard.
