I went to an outdoor party last weekend and this is what I wore. On a whim, I cut a dahlia from my garden and secured it with two bobby pins. I was surprised the flower lasted well into the evening. There's something fun about wearing a real flower especially a flower that you have grown in the garden. Pinning a flower on your lapel or in your hair makes the simplest outfit come alive.
Since this event was outside on grass, lower heeled shoes seemed like the best decision. If you need a small bag, this one is a beauty and the color combination works great with many outfits.

ReplyDeletePerfect fit, figure flattering, feminine, ideal for an outdoor party as well as for the office.
You are so right about lower heels for working on grass.
Beautiful phots!

What a gorgeous setting! I like how you've echoed the colorblocking with the shoes and bag. Your fresh dahlia is such a nice touch for a garden party!
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to mention that I was finally able to watch the video of your artwork and that it's AMAZING! Not only the technical part, but the lovely dreamlike imagery.
Thanks so much, I appreciate the supportive comments. This time of year Minnesota is lush and green.
ReplyDeleteThe flower is a beautiful touch! I love that gorgeous Coach bag too!

The flower really is the perfect finishing touch! I've used those bright pink orchids -- the ones that always seem to decorate spas -- in my hair before, and they look good especially in braids. I did that almost every day during our Thailand vacation a few years ago! Beautiful, atmospheric photos as always. :)
ReplyDeleteI bet that was beautiful. I didn't think of orchids, they would be the best flower for this because they are long lasting.
DeleteHow gorgeous do you look!!!! I absolutely love the outfit and I have to tell you that after seeing that Coach bag in an earlier post, I happened to be at a Coach outlet and was delighted to find it. I love it and always think of you when I wear it.
ReplyDeleteOh how sweet! It's a great bag isn't it? Thanks for your comments, I love hearing from you.
DeleteWhat a nice place to take pics! And you in between look fabulous in your beautiful dress. The gardenia is the perfect accessory for it. I love your little back with the small additions of pink.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress and perfect find! As always skillfully accessorized.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely dress and known to many of my friends as the Nine West "Magic Dress" (not sure if that is it's real title) as it looks amazing on all shapes and sizes. The ombre effect is very attractive. And Ann your photos are beautiful as always.
ReplyDeleteThis design would look good on women of all shapes and sizes. I have several dresses like this and find I wear them often. Thanks Deborah.
DeleteAgain perfect. The dress looks gorgeous and the flower too. Tha bag is to die for. How I love Coach. The shoes are not my favourite but very sensible to wear walking on grass and still elegant.

The idea of a real flower is simple but works so well. For a party in a garden it is perfect! You are right about your bag: it is very versatile ( and beautiful! )
ReplyDeleteYou always put together the best outfits! Thanks for inspiring me :)

ReplyDeleteThat bag is so beautiful and so is the flower!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful Ann. The flower is so perfect it doesn't look real. :-) xo
ReplyDeleteEVERY SINGLE DETAIL of this post is wonderful. The graphic pattern of the dress is a statement piece in and of itself. Love how you paired it with the two-tone leather (comfy) sandals. I always look forward to your incredible taste in photography and what you come up with. The photo of you sitting inside the columns has got to be my all time favorite thus far. And, the photo of the bracelet, brilliant! Thank you Ann for sharing your talent once again.
ReplyDeleteThanks Trina, you are so kind. I enjoy doing a post like this, different pictures in one spot. Keeps me looking around for new places!
DeleteThe flower and the coach crossbody are the perfect accessories for your lovely dress. Beautiful!

Gorgeous dress, this beautiful colors and pattern! Looks great on you dear Ann :)
ReplyDeleteThe flower in your hair is so cute. Very nice and fresh color.
Love your sandals, the look very comfortable. The last 5 years I can not walk in high-heels anymore and love shoes I can wear all day long without pain. Like the combination black and brown :)
As usual very tastefully chosen pictures :)

I have to be careful with my feet too. Not too long in heels either. I wear an arch supporting sandal at home. Thanks for the comment.
DeleteYour headwear is divine! The flower is the perfect way to pick up the color infused in your dress, and yes, come alive. You have given me a Hat Attack! I'm sure that you were turning many a head at the party.
ReplyDeleteYour background is gorgeous, as are your accessories, which are displayed with great artistry.
Gorgeous and what a fantastic idea for the flower! Those shoes are to die for. Love the contrast in colors - they would go with everything! And that dress is perfect with the pink punches of color. Lovely!

love this and that it is a real flower. Might have to take this as some inspiration and add one of my Dahlias to my look!
ReplyDeleteAnn, I've already commented on this post, but want to thank you for linking up with Hat Attack in your glorious hair flower. When I first views these photos, I had the thought that the real flower would be perfect on Hat Attack, and I was so happy to see your smiling face pop up on my screen.
