Last weekend I had a mission. I'm going to the Mall of America, the largest indoor mall in the US which happens to be near the Minneapolis airport, and check out the line up of spring dresses. I wear dresses in the summer and the best designs sell quickly.
A weekend usually isn't the best time to visit this mall. It was spring break so the mall was packed with girls and their mothers hunting for prom dresses. In the sea of short sleeveless items, I found this easy to wear knit dress. I like the length and sleeves plus it can be styled so many ways. I love wearing knit dresses because they are so practical. It comes with a black belt so I added the red for a touch of color.
I've never worn red lipstick before. One of my favorite bloggers, Cla of Glam Up your Lifestyle calls red lip color her "secret weapon." We have the same skin tone and hair color so I thought I'd give it a try. Thanks Cla for the inspiration!

I really love this polka dot dress and the way you styled it. The red lipstick is stunning on you - definitely wear it more often! By the way, do you mind if I ask the color. I love red but can't wear a very vivid one and this one looks soft enough for me.
ReplyDeleteI wear Mac lipsticks. I start with a base color, which is Brave, then add some Lady Danger A83 over it. I find if I mix the bright with my favorite base, meaning a color just darker than my natural lip tone, the brights look better. I do this with bold pink also.
DeleteYou look gorgeous, Ann! I love the first photo with the green door - beautifully done! As always, the dress fits you so perfectly, and the touch of red makes it really amazing. Shoes are soooo pretty! You are such a beauty! Red lipstick is great on you. And I see that Spring has finally arrived to you! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Natalia for commenting! The wind was just right in the first picture.
DeleteWow, so lovely and vibrant! Besides the great dress, an excellent jacket and fierce shoes. I love the accessory detail with the leaves, and how the green door matches your eyes.
ReplyDeleteThanks Amber, nice to hear from you! Hope it's getting warmer up in Canada. Just was on the phone with a friend in Quebec she said the weather was difficult again. We still have snow but maybe 50 degrees this weekend.
DeleteYou look great...I love the red lipstick on your smile!! This is a fun look...and the polka dots work for you...just love the joyful feel of the whole style!!
ReplyDeleteAh thanks Pam, I am feeling it...joyful and an ease right now. You know sometimes when you take pictures for your blog and it's hard to get a good set. These pictures came together with an ease.
DeleteOMG!! A friend and I bought the same dress at full price. You are such a lucky gal. I Love love and love how you styled it. The red touches are so glamorous. This dress fits longer on me (midi), but I love the fit, it reminds me my vintage gingham dress. It's so lady-like and yoyo pull it off like no one can. Super awesome!!!

yoyo? I meant YOU ;-)
DeleteI think this is a good one especially for the price. It doesn't surprise me that you love it too. I'm looking forward to seeing it on your blog and how you are styling it!
DeleteI was planning to wear it with flat sandals and hat, for a casual outdoorsy day. However after seeing how you styled yours, I might even wear it for a nice date with my guy. The truth is, this dress is super versatile, reason why my friend and I bought it. Did u see the striped one by the same brand? I was undecided, but, I desperately needed a polka dots dress and I blame Sue for this...lol
DeleteYes super versatile, I could see flats and a hat also. I didn't see the striped one, it's cool. I could see you in it!
DeleteYou look great with red lips.
ReplyDeleteGreat new dress Ann! I love it paired with a more tough jacket for the great mix of feminine and bad ass :) Red lipstick suits you so well. I am still on the hunt for the right shade for me.

Perfect, Ann! I love polka dots and your combination with red adds a bit of a 50ies look although of course you look very elegant.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to have met Cla in person, she is a wonderful person and has great style!
Enjoy your weekend,

Wow you look gorgeous dear Ann. This dress is made for you and you wear it very special with all the red details. What a great idea. Also the red lipstick - a wonderful weapon. :-) And this leatherjacket give this outfit a little rockchic... so edgy.
ReplyDeleteAnd I also really happy, that I met Cla in person, she is a lovely person and for me a great inspiration too. Have a nice weekend, Conny

ps: I never was in America until now and I hope one day I come over. I want to see many places and one of your big malls of course :-)
Dear Ann, if a saw this dress this morning at your pinterst page, i immediately fall in love with it. This is such a pretty dress and such a great idea to ad it with red accessoires. Red shoes and bags are always a fantastic statement. I like to wearing soft fishnet stockings too, especially fishnet stockings in nude are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteIt´s such honor to inspiring you with red Lipsticks, you look fabulous with red lips. You inspiring me always again.
Have a great weekend, Cla

I always love your photos.
ReplyDeleteAre those fishnets white? They look great. I think I need to invest in some new ones. They are perfect to offer some coverage without being too hot.
Red and black are so classic and striking. I love the bit of roughness the leather jacket adds.
bisous
Suzanne
They are bone colored and from Target. I purchased these a couple of years ago, although I did see them there again last week. They are great because they bridge the gap between tights and sandals.
DeleteCute dress and the red lipstick looks very "you." I absolutely abhor going to the mall or grocery store when it's crowded, so try to go either early in the morning or during off hours when I can. Crowds of teenagers are not for the faint of heart!
ReplyDeleteI know I can't believe I went on the weekend. I usually go on a Monday morning. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteAs always, a perfect style. Love the colors black-white-red! Yours, Philo
ReplyDeleteYou look great - you should be a paid model for Macy's! I love the black and white polka dots and the red accents. And the lip color is a lovely soft red that looks perfect on you! It's good to try new things, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThanks Val, but I don't know about that! Just an average lady here trying to make the best pictures I can and hoping to inspire ladies in our age group who enjoy fashion. I truly like clothing and enjoy making the pictures each week.
DeleteBest dress in the worlddddddddddddddddddd, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Beautiful!! Just beautiful. I would never have guessed it was knitted. I thought it was just cloth/a normal material. I have a red dress like this, which I pair with a black and white polka dot sash. Just the other way arounf haha.
ReplyDeletePerfect shos and tights as well. Well done dear. Your mission was successful.
(By the way, your feed burner is on the blink, as I don't get a warning anymore by email when a new post is published. I had the same trouble with another blog. Ohh.. Come to think of it.. my readers might have the same problem. Shoot.
Greetje
There's some problems on my end connecting to to your blog also although I've found a way to get to you. Something incompatible with our systems. I don't know how to fix it. Glad you like this look! It's basic and wearable for everyday with different shoes. I thought it was fun and easy to wear.
DeleteAnd I stand corrected... there was nothing wrong with the feed burner. Just arrived on another mail address or later than usual. I wonder what problems you have with my blog... as we don't want that, now do we?
DeleteGreetje
By the way, I always have to copy a Captcha code when I publish my comment to your blog. I heard on another blog that you can change the settings of this code to accept comments as "trustworthy" after you have approved them once or twice. And we would not get this anymore. Would be nice.
I can get to your blog by clicking on your comment in my post. When I use my bloglovin' feed I open your page then it disappears. This could be a problem on my end, I just don't know. I've heard that you can remove Captcha. I see Sylvia uses it. I've been thinking about removing it. What have you heard anything about removing it. I guess it's hard to comment from a Iphone with Captcha.
DeleteNo don't remove it, just change the settings so it will accept people without the code AFTER you have approved them once (or twice) before. I am not an expert in this, but Dan of the Pretty Cute managed it too.
DeletePerhaps you can click on my Bloglovin-following possibility again and register again? I have installed it freshly a few months back.
Beautiful dress, Ann! And these red accessories and your lipstick look simply great with it. As always, wonderful photos.
ReplyDeletegreat outfit! found your lovely blog via share in style ...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning, ready for the Catwalk!! I love polka dots and with the red accents, this is one beautiful outfit on a gorgeous lady!!!

I spent almost a week in Minneapolis - I had to be there for work then ended up staying for a long weekend. I ended up at the MOA 3 times, and I'm pretty sure I still never covered every store! So much fun walking aimlessly around! And it was around the holidays, too! Which I can even imagine is worse than prom season! Glad you were able to find this jewel of a dress! Your pops of red are gorgeous - glad you tried the lip color because it is very flattering on you! And I also love the edge of the moto jacket to finish this off! Nicely done!

ReplyDeleteEnjoy your spring, Oh Goddess of Classiness!
Super cute dress! I always love the combination of black, white, and red. The red lipstick looks great on you too!
ReplyDeleteI like how you threw this leather jacket on with this feminine dress. Twisted! And when I scrolled down and did a little gasp when I saw your red, red shoes. The red lipstick also suits you. Too bad the leather jacket wasn't from "free, people!" What a difference a comma would have made...
