Hello! Yes that is snow in these pictures taken the first week of April. In fact it snowed eight inches last night but it will melt quickly this time of year. I purchased this dress last spring and have worn it in several ways. I seen to always have a place in my closet for a few lace items especially in a vibrant color. I have worn it casually with silver low heeled sandals for an outdoor summer art show and with gray tights for an evening dinner. This past winter I've found gray tights to be versatile and a nice change from black. When I'm wearing a bright dress this tone looks less harsh with my fair coloring. I also wear bone colored fishnet hose during the transition to sandals. If I were to wear this dress formally, I'd wear a sheer hose in maybe a gray tone during colder months.
This week I watched several of the designer shows for this fall and so many of the them showed the models with bare legs. I live in a climate where I need to wear tights from October to end of the April most years. How do you feel about wearing colors other than black with dresses and skirts?

Oh Ann, have you modeled this dress before? It looks so familiar. I love it. Tights are a bug-a-boo with me. Solid tight are a nuisance for me. I have such a solid straight up and down waist that they slide down in the back when I sit in them. But I don't have that problem with Fishnet tights. I do love fishnet anything, classic or a variety of designs. I absolutely love your bone colored ones. I am hitting up some of those asap, man! So no to tights but yes to fishnets. But as soon as it is ok here, I go bare - nude - naked - buff {but only on my legs --- and arms} LOL
ReplyDeleteHi Renae, yes I've worn this dress before on the blog last spring. I think I saw light colored fishnets at Target when I was there last week. You might check next time you go. I'm looking forward to going without tights hopefully soon!
DeleteOh Ann! Thanks for joining with us at "Fashion item Friday". So cool of you. I'll have to see what Target has again. I did see a post somewhere were they had so No-Nonsense brand with cream fishnets. I will find some, mark my words. lol
DeleteBeautiful colour, Ann! And black tights would have been too harsh. I bought burgundy tights last fall but have worn them only once, then went back to my comfort zone...I have to step out of it again ;-)
ReplyDeleteI really really hope spring will finally arrive for you!
Have a lovely weekend,

Gorgeous dress and fantastic necklace! You really look so pretty in blue and you know how to wear the right pieces in this magical color.

Oh Ann, you look amazing in this shade of blue! Gorgeous lace dress, and such unexpected combination - love it!
ReplyDeleteI wore purple and warm gray tights a lot last Winter, and on a couple of occasions, I had green and patterned red tights. I loved it, it adds something to cold season, something fun, playful and enjoyable! I am definitely going to experiment with more colors in the future. :)
An absolutely wonderful dress, love the dress and I love the look, when combined with the red shoes and gray socks. A beautiful proposal
ReplyDeleteHello Josep-Maria, you are so loyal with all your supportive comments. Oh I wish you were still doing your wonderful blog. I'm glad you like this dress.
DeleteWhat a beautiful dress - the blue really suits you. I can imagine that dress with pale hose or fishnets in the summer, and I bet the color really pops then. The burgundy accents are pretty, and that necklace is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI have some gray tights, too, and just bought some navy ones not too long ago. They both look good with denim skirts, so that's a nice change from black. I haven't worn fishnets for years! Maybe it's time to try them again.
Pretty blue, especially against the green background. This is a very Anna Wintour look, nicely done!
ReplyDeleteWow - Ann, blue is your color - not only the dress is glowing, you glow together with this dress. Your eyes, your face - it's really gorgeous. Your styling is very special - I think that I never worn a dress, together with opaque thights in another color as black - but I have to start with it. It's different but very nice and a perfect idea to give a dress a new style. Furthermore I like your lace dress very much. And I'm joining Annette and wish you that spring arrives soon in your area.

Thank you Conny. I have a large collection of tights of all colors and textures. I admire the styling of Elisa Nalin and boy can she rock the colored tights!
DeleteA huge WOW .. this dress is awesome! The color and this wonderful lace!!
ReplyDeleteThe shoes are so beautiful, I love this dark red tone :)
have a wonderful weekend

Right on trend with the coloured lace dress Ann! And, it's obvious that last year you were ahead of the trend, :). I used to avoid wearing dresses and skirts because of the hosiery issue. I have found trouble finding a good fit for my shape. I finally found some at Walmart, of all places, but now they don't seem to have my size! You always share such fabulous looks with coloured and textured tights, but for the most part, they don't feel right on me when I wear them. I gravitate to a really sheer, nude colour for the most part. I keep looking at the fishnet hosiery specifically because of your posts, but haven't got the courage up to try them. And, as much as I love the comfort of bare legs, I have such pale, pale skin that I often feel self conscious going without hose.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue for the comment. I've found tights at Walmart too. I've been collecting gray tights this winter in warm and cool tones for variety. I think if the weather allows for no tights all the better. Suzanne mentioned fleece lined tights in the comment below. If you wear a lot of skirts and dresses as I do, you have to wear something here in Minnesota.
DeleteI adore this gorgeous colour of blue on you. The lace is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the snow. It "tried" to snow here this morning...but so far we have escaped. It is brutally cold though. Feels more like December than April.
I like wearing coloured tights. I sometimes will just add coloured tights to change up a look. Although I don't find them comfortable they are a necessity if I want to wear any dresses for 7 months out of the year. Also they are perfect for covering up skin imperfections. I use fleece lined tights during the really cold months.
bisous
Suzanne
It's so strange because the light says April and the weather doesn't. Next week it is going to get up in 50's. Hope it does for you soon. Fleece lined tights, I can't believe I haven't seen them. I want some!
DeleteDear Ann, a lace dress is always a great pieces, but a vibrant color like blue or red make it very special. You looks wonderful in these blue dress and the gray stockings are perfect. I´m sure your bone colored fishnets are great too for these dress.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago i always black tights with a dress or skirt. But now i prefer nude or gray.
Have a nice weekend

Hi there! I will wear different color tights and think it adds more interest in an outfit. I like pattereed tights too. I love this dress, the blue looks gorgeous on you, and you know I like lace. Have a good day! jess
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous in this color and I really like the necklace!
ReplyDeleteThis dress is tailored made for you Ann! I really like the colored tights and the burgundy colors with this. I am a fan of colored tights on others but when I wear them, they just don't look right. I am a fan of pattern tights too, I love how they add another layer of interest to an outfit.

That makes sense to me Alice. If I remember you live in CA so you probably don't need a heavy covering as I do. I could see pattern adding a nice texture to your outfits!
DeleteGrey is definitely a great color choice for tights, especially when they have a little bit of blue like this to play off your dress! Love the contrast in your shoes! Carylee | http://www.morepiecesofme.com
ReplyDeleteIt's so mental that you ave snow. We have not even had one cm this winter! I love that blue dress.

The first thing I liked about this dress is its colour, so beautiful! And the second thing, that it is lace, I never get tired of lace, always love it. And of course, the dress' design, I love it too. This is just amazing piece to have in one's wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteLovely dress on you, the blue certainly is your colour. The grey tights and burgundy shoes add another dimension. Hope your weather warms soon as bare legs and lace always go so well together. I always seem to have trouble with tights that fit ,so I tend to be a pants girl in winter.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning pop of color! And I love how you muted it a bit with the maroon and grey - keeps the focus on that gorgeous blue which frames your gorgeous face!

Pretty dress in a wonderful colour. And I don't even like lace. Excellent combination with the red shoes, bag and the necklace.
ReplyDeleteAs for tights... yes I am all for it to wear them in different colours but I have no idea how to do that.

You look very pretty Ann! gorgeous dress :) I relly like the necklace
ReplyDeleteHugs Beata
Ann, this stress is unbelievably beautiful. The hue looks striking against your hair color and complexion. Stunning!!
ReplyDeleteI like lace in every colour so I find your blue dress is delightful! The combination with grey thights is very nice ( I often prefer gray to black as I find black is a too severe colour on me...) Lovely burgundy shoes...
ReplyDeletep.s.
It seems as though in Minneapolis the weather is still quite cold...hope it will be better soon! We are having very hot days recently...( a bit too hot for me! )
Just magic, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeletePoetry in lace, dear Ann.

I love how you mix colours Ann! This outfit is gorgeous and you look beautiful! Hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteAnn, I wear all sorts of colors other than black with dresses and skirts. I think it can change up the outfit and ensemble to something quite unique. One of my favorite combo's is my mint knit skirt when I wear rose colored tights, I always get so many compliments when I do so. I think this combo with your grey tights and cobalt dress is very lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove this color on you, Ann! It also happens to be one of my favorites :) Really lovely!
ReplyDeletewow I am so amazed by this dress. I want a dress like this. Lace dresses are my favourite and the combination of lace and blue is super stunning.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dress! Your artistic side totally comes through in your looks. It's obvious you know how to mix colors and textures to make a flawless ensemble! This look is WOWZA!!! Love love love!

Wow, what for a blue in the front of the green door! And I like this chain.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weeklend :-)
So glad to have found you through Renae. This shade of blue is STUNNING on you, and I love that necklace. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAnother pretty dress and another pretty background...you always pick great colors! I love colored tights on people, although generally I think they are hard for petites to pull off...you can wind up looking like a little girl. I also live in the opposite of MN, Arizona, so I will probably never get to wear tights....sigh.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress! I'd love it if you joined my Light It Up Blue link up for Autism Awareness: http://notjustbrides.blogspot.com/2014/04/light-it-up-blue.html
