Texture for Fall
As fall approaches I look forward to the big fall issues of the fashion magazines. I enjoy seeing the new items in the stores of Minneapolis where I like to try on pieces from differing collections and think about how I would style them in my own personal way.
Here I was looking for a comfortable and patterned skirt that is paired with leather or tweed. I often mix designers and add at least one thrifted or older piece to mix things up. This bag is dark purple and I've worn it often with black shoes to add some color.
The jacket is from Calvin Klein. There are many classic and desirable pieces in the fall offerings. Calvin Klein is on my list to watch this season as fall sales approach. How do you decide which items to add that the beginning of a new season? Do you wait for the sales or pick up a special piece before it is sold out in your size?

The skirt is insane, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteThe pieces love and clash with each other in a wonderful arty way.
You are FABULOUS, Ann
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Hi Ann. The patterned skirt is so pretty and in combination with the mixed twees/leather jacket, the outfit looks so chic. I like combinations with older items and new stuff, too. For really expensive items i wait for sale.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting. I usually wait for sales too, but I like this jacket and skirt so much. I'll be remixing these in future posts.
DeleteGreat look. The skirt and jacket are gorgeous. The bag is great. The jewelry is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis entire look is excellent, Ann.. I love it. head to toe. Great job! I sent the link to a friend of mine who is looking for some shoes exactly like these. Have a great weekend ahead.
ReplyDeleteHey thanks Pam. I bought these shoes at DSW in the summer. I've seen this style everywhere right now.
DeleteI love that jacket, it's so unique! I really like the clean, crisp look of Calvin Klein as well, although I don't own too much of their stuff. I always try to wait till sale season, it's so much cheaper!

I adore this textures look for fall! The patterned skirt is just wonderful and perfect with that jacket! I usually like to wait for sales but if something is super special I may pick it up before my size is gone! :)

I am in love with that gorgeous jacket - so perfect for the coming months. I have noticed that now day a lot of the stores that I shop at have great in season sales that I take advantage then.

Thanks, I'm alway watching for these sales too.
DeleteThat jacket is fabulous. Your hair is looking extra lovely too : )
ReplyDeleteLately I've been all about the thrift. It's more exciting. Plus I don't risk running into someone else wearing what I am.
bisous
Suzanne
That's a good point about thrifting. I've been doing more of it in the last few years and I'm always amazed at the great items out there.
DeletePerfection again. I still want to raid your closet (and your jewelry cabinet!)
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit especially the skirt. I tried to order it as soon as I saw it in your post but unfortunately BCBG do not ship outside the USA. Thanks for sharing.. Sara
ReplyDeleteOh that's too bad, it's a beautiful skirt. Sorry to hear BCBG doesn't ship outside the US. Their site shows stores all over the world. Maybe you can find a store near you and get it that way?
DeleteHello dear...very beautiful style...I mainly like your jacket and bag!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm following you and I would be very glad if you visited my blog and follow me too if you like it!!!
Thank you very much..
Have a nice weekend!!!

Ha ha, it is lovely to see you here. What a beautiful ensemble you have here.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you mix things - the moto jacket and the swirly skirt look great together! And hurray for a purple bag! I would love to have more colored leather in my wardrobe. My niece has a gorgeous aubergine bag that I covet.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I never pay attention to new trends until they're so ubiquitous they can't be missed. Today I'm wearing mostly thrift-shop clothes, and comfortable because it's Friday.
Thank you Val for your thoughtful comments. A purple or blue bag is a fun alternative to black and I find goes with just about everything. The thrift shop I frequently shop at is packed with fall items right now. I need to spend some time looking there too.
DeleteCheck out my blog for a chance to link up your post!

What beautiful pictures and such a unique outfit, I love it..something different!
ReplyDeleteI love the length of your hair too, not too many people can pull off or have the guts for short hair. It flatters you well!

Thank you Rosalyn. It's my goal to take in what is in style, then mix it in an unique way that makes it personal. I enjoy your blog also.
DeleteI just love this leather look/Moto Look for fall. I feel anyone can wear it and make if feminine or rocky.
ReplyDeleteGot my shoes! Haven't tried them with an outfit but love their look.
Could you link this post up to this week's Style hop? http://stillblondeafteralltheseyears.com/2013/09/emmy-style-outfits-modeled-women-45-verizon-voices-fashionista-style-hop/ We are up to 45 link-ups and I so hope to break the 50 barrier this week. My goal is to make this the largest Fashion hop on the internet! Thanks for all you do. Regardless, I just love your posts and the work you do.
You are looking so good. Beautiful outfit (have I ever disapproved of one? Not yet, have I? )
ReplyDeleteI am not so cool and collected as you are. I am a senseless impulse buyer. No money left anymore. Sad but true.
Greetje
Thanks Greetje. Last summer I asked a Mac makeup artist to choose some colors I haven't worn before so we went with orange. Yes orange eyeshadow, lipstick and blush. This color photographs well but seems a bit scary in daily life. I have green eyes so orange as a good contrast.
DeleteAnother gorgeous look and amazing photos, Ann. The skirt is especially beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am also a sales and bargain hunter, outlets if possible.
Annette | Lady of Style
I love that skirt! It's so lady like :)
ReplyDeletewildeinthecity.blogspot.com
I am having a great time with that jacket! NICE! MORE THAN NICE! REALLY NICE! lol
ReplyDeleteShopping solely for thrifted bargains doesn't quite qualify me to answer the Q but, I can say this. I too love Fall fashion magazines. My sister and I would split the cost of the Seventeen 'Biggest Fall Issue Ever' all while in Jr high and High School. We had to have the newest, latest and the best! We didn't have the budget for the best but we did have the budget for awesome shoes and then we would sew the other stuff. My sis is still a great seamstress. me?...not so much. I stopped sewing when I was first married, because my (then husband) told me my homemade clothes 'looked it'. Ya, thanks buster, no wonder he is the ex for about 27 yrs now. LOL
Lovely jacket, Calvin Klein's collections are always stunning! Very nice on you. The purple bag is great and matches your outfit very well.
ReplyDeleteMixing a new piece with something you have in your closet is a winning idea to get a new look, I often do the same.
A new pick for autumn? For me a red, vitaminic bag!!
Oh I love this outfit! It's so daring but it works! Stunning! xx
ReplyDeleteAnn, the styling, photos and background are perfect. You look especially radiant too! I am picking up some pieces from the following brand this fall: "NOTHING" :-) I am on a serious budget so I be shopping for Fall in my closet. :-) xo
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing you have one fabulous closet to shop! Thanks for commenting Gabriala.
DeleteSuch a beautiful skirt and looks simply amazing in combination with this jacket thanks to coordinated prints. As always, wonderful pictures, Ann!
ReplyDeleteThat's a fantastic skirt, I love the Aztec style pattern.
ReplyDeleteObsessed with this look! Perfect!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up for Passion For Fashion! Pinning this!
Chic and sophisticated for fall! With intriguing colors photographed on a beautifully contrasting background. Your artist's eye always inspires.
ReplyDeleteThat jacket is amazing! SO so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love the textures in this look! And the asymmetrical zipper on your jacket. The backdrop is fun too! ink corrugated sheet metal? Love it!
ReplyDeleteLove all the texture and interest in this look. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteloving this jacket and skirt together - fab combo
ReplyDeleteThe textures are so perfect for fall. I'm loving the mix of leather with knits.
ReplyDeleteOh Ann, I love how you get all sorts of angles on your shots. I need a pro camera dude. My HM can't take my photos. He has odd up-close vision so he just puts the camera down in frustration. Thanks for loving the Seventeen Magazine tale. I neglected to mention that she is nearly 5 years older than me and my only sister. We never fought, which was so nice. We shared clothes, too. Our Mom was our fashion compass and we would be guided by her more than we realized at the time. When we would gather clothes for donation to the nearest thrift place, our Mom would go through the bags on the sly and keep stuff and then 3 weeks later or so, she would be wearing our discarded stuff and she made it look better than ever. (hug)
ReplyDeleteI do have an advantage when it comes to photography. Because of our work we have all the equipment to take good pictures. I am always competing in the arts with pictures of my artwork so great photography is critical. I think one of the reasons I started blogging is that I always admired editorial style photography and I wanted to see if I could do it. I have a two year degree in photography and BFA in fine art so I'm serious about visual matters.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking probably most of us have a large influence from our Moms for better or worse when it comes to clothing. I'm glad to hear your was so positive and sweet. Have a great week Renae! Thanks for the thoughtful comment as always.
That jacket is amazing!!! Love it with the skirt and the shoes. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question - I try to wait for sales, I just get so upset when I buy something full price and then see it marked down a week later. Grrr. I can't decide if I like the sleeves the best on the jacket or the body! It's absolutely lovely. And the contrast of the weave with the silkiness of the skirt is just perfect (as usual).

great fall look! Love all the textures and that skirt is so pretty!

Oh my gosh, this sounds weird, but I just want to touch you! The textures of your outfit are so appealing!

Doesn't sound weird to me. I experience texture through touch too. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteOh, I love the jacket. Very on trend and loving your haircut too.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Monday Mingle.
Daphne.
This is such a stunning combination Ann. I find the combination of the skirt and jacket quite brilliant. The pattern mix has such a lovely 'flow' to it and the eye follows it easily. Your hair is looking really gorgeous too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Deborah. I do like this outfit and I'm looking forward to remixing both pieces. Initially I purchased the black leather skirt to go with the jacket but I thought it was to obvious the matching choice. I bought this skirt because I love the pattern. They were hanging side by side and I thought they made a interesting mix.
DeleteGreat pictures! And a very original style.
ReplyDeletewonderful details, this is such a great autumn look!! Thanks so much for linking up to Passion For Fashion, i hope to see you tomorrow! xx
ReplyDeleteYou are playing with contrasts marvellously. The shining golden jewellry on the scratched table, the lightly swinging skirt with tweed and leather. The artist you are is also shown in your looks and in your pictures. You look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous jacket! Totally unique, I like how you paired it with the skirt! :)

I love your classic style with a twist. The Calvin jacket is perfect. I found you on Visible Mondays.

So beautiful again! That jacket...wow. I wore a CK robe this week too - one of my favourite pieces. I hope you don't tire of hearing how stunning your photography is.
ReplyDeleteThanks for listing all these linkups. I must check them out.
Love the whole texture thing! And i am really digging the shoes! Xoxo
ReplyDeleteWowee-zowie ... every piece fits together like an elegant puzzle. Great mix, the skirt (mouthwatering!) and the jacket! Shoes, bag, bangles ... everything.
ReplyDeleteI will, if I can, put special pieces on lay-away to make sure sizes are there! My common sizes go fast, and with so few resources here, I get while the gettin's good. Better for me than on a card. I'm drizzline a little at a vest and moto that I have socked away, and will pick them up before the end of the month. I can't wear them now, and it allows me a little flexability for other purchases that I can wear sooner than later!
Have a great week. You're looking lovely going into it!
Amazing look, and so perfectly styled. That skirt especially is a wow factor. I love fall as there are so many opportunities for layering and mixing.
ReplyDeleteOh... I'm so jealous of your bag...Very stylish outfit dear...
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful Sunday...
