A reader of Blue Hue Wonderland named Anne sent me an email requesting I show some casual outfits. This week I added this jacket to pieces I already own to show how one piece mixes with many outfits that are both dressy and casual. This jacket is made by Guess and I would wear it with all of these outfits in this post. Although online Macy's is sold out of this color. I also tried on the white jacket and it is attractive too.
If you are a reader of my blog, you know I like jackets and coats. The majority of my monthly clothing budget is spent on unique jackets and coats so I watch sales for basic pieces for good prices. Most of my sweaters I buy at thrift stores. In fact this sweater was $3! I do like colored jeans and buy them often on the end of season clearance. I'm liking the fit of Jones New York Jeans these days.
When it comes to a comfort shoe I purchase Naot's. I love heels but I really do buy most of my heels for great prices so a truly comfortable pair of walking shoes is a must. I've had these oxfords a couple of years and find them to be so easy on the feet. Naot's souls form to your individual foot as you wear them to make a custom fit.
The motto for the state of Minnesota is "land of 10,000 lakes" so here I am wearing my favorite red trench near tranquil blue water. I like a bright colored trench for that time in between the warm and cool seasons. I wish I could give you a link to this coat but it was purchased from JC Penney's several years ago. A bright coat lifts my spirits on gloomy or raining days. Today is absolutely beautiful like a postcard highlighting fall colors and sunshine.
This jacket refers to many of my passions. I enjoy historical clothing, early American quilts and the color pallet of my own paintings. The jacket is deep inky black, my camera sometimes reads black as brown. I'm wearing some older jewelry to add a touch of romance to this outfit. My husband and I were exhibitors at a craft show on the Pier in San Francisco in the early 90's. We decided to bring my mom along for fun and at that time she hadn't flown on a plane before. Mom loved this trip and art show. She used her friendly personality to visit with many of the artists in this show. She purchased these earrings for me and my sister in law gave me this lovely bracelet, both of which I cherish. I really don't remember very much about this show, just one of many shows, but I do adore the memory of my mom walking up and down the hills of San Francisco at the age of 70. locations--fairgrounds jacket--bcbg (here) leather skirt--calvin klein (here) shoes--bandolino (thrifted) purse--colehaan jewelry--handmade (gift from joan and mom) links the best of friday link up working girl with style simply lulu style verizon voices fashionista style hop passion for fashion mingle monday what I wore wednesday the pleated poppy three-fer thursday look what i got not dead yet style
As the warm summer light fades to cooler tones, I'm hanging on to wearing sandals as long as possible. Today I wore a more casual outfit so you don't think I'm always wearing heals and a dress. I combined cotton pants with a faux leather zip up jacket. I used to wear mostly solid colored items, but in the last few years I've been attracted to prints. Some of you might have wondered why I called my blog Blue Hue Wonderland. The blue hue refers to the tone of the northern light in the fall and winter. You can see this in these pictures and this is my favorite time of the year. I started blogging in January of this year and during the snow covered winter Minnesota is a wonderland. shoes--calvin klein pants--joe fresh (here) jacket--ellen tracy earrings--anne kline (here) bracelet--forever twenty-one location--stage platform at the fair
