During a quick walk through an discount store, I spotted this Rag and Bone red dress looking lonely and on a rack of deeply discounted items. It was $44 and I thought why is this here? Just one dress, well made, in my size and a color I adore. I know you all have been through this, looking for a dress for a special event like a wedding and there's not one thing that fits or is the right price. It was an easy decision to buy this item. Paired with a consignment purchased coat, it's still cold here in Minneapolis, and worn with a necklace from BCBG. Then finish with the Riana Handbag by Maxwell Scott, I'm ready for my next time a wedding invitation arrives in the mail. I could not find the exact necklace online which I'm wearing in this post. Here's some other great statement necklaces from BCBG which would be a fine addition to any dress.
Pastels, especially light blue and mint green, are a trend I'm looking forward to wearing this spring. Winter has been long and cold here in Minnesota so I lightened the colors with a pale blue purse and jeans. Paired with a textured coat and a thrifted gray cotton sweater, this is an easy outfit for everyday. I was walking through the juniors department, I saw the coat and thought it was a classic design that any age could wear. I updated my boots I wear with jeans to these black Ivanka Trump booties with gold trim. These boots are comfortable and easy to pair with many things in the closet. In shoes I wear often, I add Dr. Scholl's For Her Hidden Arch Supports. I like using these because they are an inexpensive way to add extra comfort to any shoe. links--plane pretty--dc instyle--mingle monday--working girl with style--simply lulu style
Wearing animal print seems to be a topic of styling some adore and others do not. I have a couple of coats, a skirt and a few sweaters with the pattern plus two denim fitted jackets in my closet. I love prints and I see animal print as one option to experiment when mixing tones. This coat was a place to start when building this outfit. Here I chose colors in greens and gold to highlight the print. Black, white or gray would also work but I think color makes this outfit more reflective of my style. If you are interested in adding coat to your wardrobe, check out the first picture in my links because I think it's a particularly great design. I've been noticing athletic inspired pieces in the fashion magazines this month. I remember this influence in the 90's, all the zip up jackets and minimal design. I wore it then and it feels interesting again. Keeping this knit dress basic, then looking for a bag and shoes that are trendy was the general theme of this outfit. Because the dress is solid black, I decided to keep the accessories stark but in a primary color. This clutch is one of BCBG's unique pieces that always excites my eye for the unusual in handbags. Finishing the outfit with a retro inspired wool houndstooth coat feels like I'm ready to greet an evening out on the town. clutch--bcbg (here) dress--joie (here) coat--calvin klein (here)(petite) shoes--bcbgeneration bracelet--forever twenty-one
