Summit Avenue

These pictures were taken on the steps of one of the several cathedrals on the jewel of a street called Summit Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota. One hundred years ago the wealth of my region was made by the lumber business. Old growth trees were harvested and floated down the great Mississippi River to build many cities along it's banks all the way to New Orleans. The harvest of this resource resulted in great wealth and many of these families built exquisite homes along this street.
Before we purchased our home, Dean and I lived in a tiny apartment on Summit Avenue. Every day I drove down this tree lined street and delighted in the incremental observation of the seasonal changes and beautiful architecture.

    1. Hey thanks Suzanne. Before going to art school, I studied commercial photography. I'm enjoying thinking about photos again, I had forgotten how much I like photography. I especially like choosing the site and editing the post.

  7. How many gorgeous coats do you have?!? Your pictures always look like they're straight out of a glossy magazine - beautiful clothes, elegant model, wonderful locations. The columns in the first picture remind me of the ones in Durham Cathedral in Britain.

  9. Nice poses. You look like a model and you should be one. Seriously. I had a nap today so I am up late. That's ok, right? I love your shoes. I swear I am a shoe-a-holic!

  10. When I was in photo school we all modeled for each other. None of use had money to hire a professional. I feel comfortable with Dean taking my picture. I think I would clam up with someone else. He is so funny because he tells me if a pose looks bad. Thanks for the comments Renae.
