It's All About the Bag

I enjoy trying unusual accessories to change an outfit I already have in the closet. I've been eyeing this BCBG bag all summer so at the summer clearance I picked it up. I like the sculptural quality and it adds a fun twist to this summer outfit. These shoes are from DSW and I think make a great transition piece into fall.

  1. As usual, adore the outfit and the background. How do you always take such stellar shots and match your backgrounds. You never cease to amaze me! You weren't kidding - they are almost exactly the same shoes! I can't wait to see how you wear them :) I love them with this outfit and OMG - that bag. THAT BAG - can I borrow it? Heading to BCBG to check it out. It's fantastic!

  2. Ann this is such a terrific look for you (and me!!!) I love it and it is a look I would wear totally as is. Again the photos are great - are you sure you don't want a job at Vogue or Bazaar?? Their clothes would certainly look more appealing.

  4. I was scrolling down your first photo on my little netbook, thinking again, nice locations, beautiful top, pretty skirt - and then there is the bag of the title, sitting there like a little hedgehog! What a great reveal, and such a cute little bag. It's unexpected with such a pretty outfit, but adds a touch of punk or something. It almost looks like it's protecting itself.

Ann, I loved your comment on my last post about bringing all our history into today. Our pasts are what give us texture, after all. It's always great to read your thoughts - thanks!

  5. No it's not a bag, it's modern art. Be honest you bought it in an art galery and not in a bag shop.
It is eye catching and abolutely great and it is the perfect accessory for you. You look fabulous in this outfit!

  6. That bag looks like an alien. Handy in case you are attacked you can throw your alien bag and literally take your assailants eyes out.

  7. I read the comment that Rebecca wrote and I think that she meant that YOUR photography would make THEIR clothes look better / more appealing. (Not that their clothes would look better on you.) At least, that's what I thought when I read it twice! I absolutely love your photos, too, and am so impressed that you have such a fun, eclectic wardrobe.

  8. Ann, Again another fabulous blog post. I am so envious of all the awesome spots that you find. My blogs are normally around my home :( I would look kind of silly with my tripod downtown photo'ing myself :) We need to connect some day, since you are so close. You might really like the Etcetera line or Kokoon line that I sell. And, your husband-JHilburn.

  9. I absolutely meant that Ann's photography would make their clothes look better. I look through the major magazines and find that the photography they use makes their clothes look unwearable. Everything I see on Ann I want to buy and wear!

  10. It's all about the bag, the shoes, the skirt, the gorgeous blouse, the perfect fun hair cute, and the wonderful photo's. Did I leave anything out? With you, Ann, it's all about the overall wonderful package, although that bag is definitely worth a post title.

  11. that bag is crazy fantastic! love those shoes too

  12. Awesome the way the dark textured lozenge of the bag play with the shoes, skirt, and pattern of the blouse, and the fringe of spikes is tremendous - so pointy and festive, sharp and soft all at once! Love you standing on that studly green chair with your spikes. :)

  13. Lovely outfit Ann. I particularly like how you have combined your signature lady like with touch of arty with a some more fashion forward items. The bag is amazing and I have to look closely before I realised I was looking at spikes. Fabulous!

  18. Can I ever forget this bag? Probably not. And there you've put it on the ground again - one of the favourite things I love about your shots, bags on the ground, and all else. Wouldn't my alter ego Miz Bagg love that beaut, swinging it mightily, thwapping passersby... Great post, Ann. Sorry, were you wearing clothes? - I'm absolutely fixated on the bag!

  19. Sabine is right, this is ART and therefore nobody could wear it better than you.

  29. What a great bag. I would never have bought it. I am too practical. Most Dutch women are. Cannot schlep everything around in it. But what a cuty. Do does pins hurt? Do you have to be careful with it?
I love that you have a print at the top and then the bag with the pins is against the solid black of your skirt. Very well styled. The silver of the pins is coming back in the white of the print jacket.

  30. The bag is beautiful, but your jacket, too. I love the colorful print. I really like this outfit, you look elegant and youthful.

  31. Well I guess that wards of pickpockets! hahahaha. I do love it tho. This post's color scheme is electric. Very nicely done!

  32. Summer booties! Glam blouse and skirt. DANGEROUS bag.
The best. Just the best. You look amazing, especially here and as always.
Too cool to be seen this at this moment without shades ...
I'm awestruck. It's your extremely dignified demeanor that gives this outfit it's clout.
Grace Kelly with edge. That's it!

  33. More like Grace Kelly with edge and a keen artistic sense of visual composition.

I love the aggressive bag paired with the flouncy skirt. How are the rest of us supposed to look good after your lovely editorial photos? No fair ;-)

  35. Your bag takes this gorgeous outfit to smashing! The colors of your top play nicely with the background and the flirty skirt adds even more fun. I see that you're photos are taken at the Minnesota State Fair, which brings back memories for me.

Yes, Minneapolis has great shopping, and I only had a day to explore. So I barely touched the surface. I need to stay longer next time!

  36. GOR- AND GEOUS. And I love the whole styling not just the bag- but the bag is pretty f-ing cool.

  37. OMyGosh Ann, I just noticed your skirt! I have one identical but mines is from EXPRESS. I got it years ago and have kept it and kept it. Now, I think I may incorporate it into a post soon (since I am shopping my closet this month anyhow) and see what develops. That purse, that purse, OMyGosh, OMyGosh!

I agree, taupe is great on us blondies. Thanks for your fun upbeat comment and post (this is one of your best!)
