Mint Green

The end of summer clearance is the time I look for dresses to add to my most worn category of clothing during the warm months of the year. I'm fond of these colors and I like this pattern so this comfortable wrap dress fits in well as a long term purchase. I styled it with shiney silver jewelry and my new summer favorite, black patent leather.

dress--bcbg
shoes--calvin klein (consignment purchase)
necklace--from target
bracelet--kenneth cole

location--building near the studio

A few of you requested to see some of my artwork. Here's a short piece that aired on public TV about us four years ago. It's a taste of the kind of things we make!

  1. Ann, I love this dress as you know wrap dresses are my favourites. I'd immediately wear that! And that Kenneth Cole bracelet is just my style.

I can't express how impressed I am by your work! My father is a retired woodcarver (my hometown is world famous for woodcarvings) and I know how much creativity and time goes into a single piece. Besides religious nativity sets and crucifixes, also toys like jumping-jacks made our town famous centuries ago.
Your paintings and your husband's very detailed moving figures are amazing. I am sure you'd both be very much interested in the work done over here.
Thank you so much for sharing this video! I really love it.

    1. We visited the Met in New York a couple of years ago and Dean was amazed by the historical German wood carved figures. Fun to hear about your connection to this tradition. We both love art of all kinds and I know we would be vastly interested in seeing Europe's treasures. One of oldest friends lives in Berlin and loves it there.

  3. But what a lovely dress! I love this pattern and I love the design, with the steering wheel on the front. I really like the final detail of the skirt, with the pattern in the negative, it's beautiful. Your shoes and your necklace are two cuties. Gorgeous look, that you look beautiful in it.

  7. Ann, I love the dress, the way it wraps and the contrasting edge. But I'm just blown away by your art! It's just magical. I love that you and your husband have talents that collaborate so well together to create something so unusual. The craftsmanship is apparent, and each piece is so unique. I also like seeing you in your art. Please share more whenever you can!

  8. Dear Ann, such a gorgeous dress - love the piping - and your necklace is lovely too, the simple, dramatic accessories set the dress off perfectly. The pic of your hand against the scored brick carries the same kind of humour and mystery which flowers so fully and beautifully in your art.

Speaking of, THANK YOU for including the video! Awesome to witness you in action and get to see and learn about your and Dean's art. Your work is amazing, gentle yet powerful, made with such exquisite care, and moving in all senses of the word.

    1. I just look at this post on the Ipad and the film didn't appear. Sorry the sound didn't work for you. We downloaded the piece for youtube so Dean thought it might not be compatible on all devices. I'm adding a link in my text to youtube directly.

  24. Dear Ann,
I'm deeply impressed by your art. The faces of the puppets and of the persons you painted, their eyes, it is as if they are speaking to me. Thank you so much for showing the film!
Your dress of course is wonderful too, the mix of the colors is exceptional and suit you well.

  25. You are gorgeous in your wrap dress, the silver jewelry and your black patent leather shoes. You and your ensembles are as artistic as your paintings. It was so much fun to hear your voice and inspiring to view the collaboration between you and your husband. 28. Your video is the best thing that's happened to me in a month!!!! I can't wait to get back to my email and send a The URL to Dan at work so he won't have to wait all day to see this!!!! There's a bit of *mori memento* about your collaborations ... but with a sweetness (the non-cloying kind) that makes this slightly macabre feel completely non-threatening. Comforting, and not without challenge! And there's a lovely modernity that makes the folk influence completely relevant for modern folks! I'm such a fan. So fine to see them move, and the two of you together. Your portrait of your darling husband is beyond lovely. Of course you love and understand Frida. It's not just about her unibrow and national garb, is it?
You look great, of course, in your minty and dark wrap dress. Love with the black! I know you wear this with boots ... can we see it again in winter?
I'm so stoked, can you tell? Thanks so much!
