Random Red Things

Any fans of the color red out there? We are preparing for an art show this week and burning the candle at both ends so wearing red helps keep up my energy. This week this post is a selection of photos with the color red as the theme. In the spirit of trying something new, I made the dress/tunic with legging a fashion challenge for myself.
Another type of casual outfit I wear often is all one color like this red jacket and red jeans. I like to style outfits like this in blue or green depending on my mood. And of course red shoes and handbags are fun to add to an outfit just about any day.

tunic--rachel roy
purse--max
shoes--lauren by ralph lauren (thrifted)
jeans--jones new york

locations--historic streetcar station, various places in como park and my studio with a bed sheet for a background

  1. Red is my favorite color - and red and black together are always my goto colors when I need to add some punch to my usual black. These are fantastic outfits - and of course, loving those booties. Thanks for the reminder, I think I'm pulling mine out today! Hmmm, didn't know that red was an energizer, so perhaps that's why I like it - I always am in need of more energy (I thought red made you hungry (ie, McDonalds?!) and that was probably why I was drawn to it, haha!!) 2. As a blond I was a big fan of red. As a redhead it is much harder to work with.

Good luck with your show! I know how busy those can make you.

  7. and ...Fashion item Friday? Come on over and share your 'red' item(s). That would be a red-hot thing to do and you would be so blue-hue cool for doing so. LOL I love the black leggings with the open shoes (well the heel and toe parts). Your style sense is MARVELOUS.

  8. Yes, Yes, Yes.. i´m a big fan of the color red. Red is so great for clothing even as a touch of red, like a bag or shoes. I really like your all over red outfit.
Dear Ann, do you have own Pinterest Side? I can´t find yourself in Pinterest. Have a nice weekend, Cla

  9. As always exquisite pictures and I do love red. The tunic outfit is wonderful. The tunic itself has a bit of a 60's vibe which I love. I trust the exhibition goes well for you and I would love to hear about it afterwards.

  10. Lady in red!!! Red used to be my favorite colors when I was in my 20s, but I lost the taste of it right when I started my early 30s. Now, it's calling me again, however, I am loving the deepest shades of red this time. You look fantastic in red, and I love how you pair the tunic with chic leggings and peep-toe shoes. Both looks are sweet.

  11. You're busy!! Red does amp up the energy and you wear it well. Your studio shot is great (love the sheet!!). I'll use red as an accent, and sometimes I almost crave it, just a spot.

    Have a glorious week. XXOO

  13. I love that stone building! And those rocks aren't small, either - impressive!

Red leather is just about the most gorgeous thing to have for accessories. I love any colored leather (hardly own any) but in red it's just so rich. And yet, I like your first outfit best, even without red leather.

I hope your art show goes well. Show us some pictures?

  29. A Lady in Red can always make a statement, whether it be with an all red ensemble, a pair of little red shoes, a red scarf, or a fabulous red jacket. And you are the perfect example and model to show us this. Plus, I agree, wearing red tends to give us much needed energy.Good luck with your up and coming show this week.

  34. I love that you conceptualize color. That's the whole reason that I find clothing interesting. It's another medium, and such a personal vehicle for expression. Not just color, but the response to shapes and references. Just wish I was a better canvas!
Love your items on you, and your thinking. Can't wait to see vid of the show ... hint, hint, HINT!!!!!
Cadmium red is not an immediate choise for me ... take it a bit deeper with other color influences and I'm all over it. But, like all colors ... sometimes nothing else will do!

    1. Thanks Jan, I'm trying to think of different types of posts. I've done many outfit and accessory posts so I'm thinking of some new types for the future. I'm going to do one from the studio soon. Photographed today and it is snowing tonight. I am going to wait on the studio until the weather gets more difficult to manage. I see you in deeper colors as you mentioned. My hardest color to wear is white and burgundy with a purple tint.

  39. I've been wearing a lot more red in the past year or so than I ever did before, mostly by adding red accessories that mix well with the black and neutrals I already have. Maybe it's the powerful energy? :)
