Pastel Light in Minneapolis

It's unusual for me to wear all light colors.  So as spring slowly approaches at glacial speed, I thought I'd give it a try.  I've been collecting clothing for many years and I like a wide variety of styles.   I love personal styling, but I think I'm also making photos with a sense of place.  I adore the city where I live--Minneapolis, Minnesota.  I'm excited to show you wide pastoral landscapes, sentimental spring gardens and crackly paint in hidden corners of this part of the world.

  2. You do have some beautiful pieces, and your locations are really interesting! I''m too self-conscious to get outside my own yard (and I don't always make the time for it). I'm glad you do, though!

  3. That's a beautiful outfit, lots of quiet color, pattern and texture. It's complex yet peaceful.
I love seeing different cityscapes as a backdrop, thanks for showing your corner of the world!

  4. I love the tights and shoes. I can't wear really high heels and your post shows you don't have to have 5 in heels to be stylish!

    1. Thanks Chrissy. I've had some serious foot problems and physical therapy to address these issues so I really can't wear heels, like many other people, for long period of time. Thank you for your comments!

  10. Great mix of textures and fabulous photos. I particurly love the reflective image of the bridge in the water. I love people's backgrounds often as much as their clothes - thanks for sharing both!

    1. Thanks so much! I think I like thinking up the backgrounds as much as styling the clothes. When I first found the sight there were two geese stand on the left side of the photos frame! I wish they could have been in this photo also.

  29. Pale colors can so often wash out a fair lady ... you did a great job keeping it all interesting and un-washy. Some pretty bold patterns and textures in spite of the pale color! Neat!
I've decided that I don't mind the slow approaching spring here. It's always so short, and it gets hot so fast. I don't mind it dawdling a bit!

    1. Hey Jan--thanks for the sweet comments. Gosh it's snowing here this week. The poor robins are returning to the North and they are hunting everywhere for food! My husband went out and purchased some bird feeders to give them some help. Did my photos for this week with snow on the ground.

  32. Are your shoes new or have you had them forever? I recall that being so popular a style while in my jr high years (which would have been late 60s). Just wondering. If so, great on you keeping them all this while. I have nothing in my closet from that time.

    1. Thanks for the comments Renae. I think I purchased these in the early 1990's, but I think you are right about the late 60's flavor.

  33. I love your coat and how it's paired with the lace and those fabulous shoes! And the backdrops on your photos are great! I used to try to shoot in a new location every week to give my readers a real sense of where I live too, but I just don't have time to do it every week, so I've had to find some nearby go-to spots for days when I'm short on time.

  39. Ah! A sense of place. I love that. It does make such a difference, as any fashion shoot shows. Do you start with the place as inspiration or the clothes? Maybe you switch up as creativity flows? I love the slight nod to other eras in this outfit, and your hair color caught my attention too. Lovely silver woven in with the blond.
